i have been trying to watch some more comedy but most of it is woefully unfunny. It is probably not aimed at me but can't remember the last time i found comedy funny.
Any suggestions welcome

I find you have to watch bout three episodes before all the in-jokes and character-based comedy starts piling up

Friday Night Dinner
IT Crowd
Black Books
The Detectorists
The Office (UK)
Extras
Episodes
Parks & Rec
Frasier
Kimmy Schmidt
What We Do In The Shadows
People Just Do Nothing
Ghosts

If you're not easily offended:
The Thick of It
Inbetweeners

The Good Place
Schitt’s Creek
Ghosts

are all good recent comedies.

For classic comedy I will always return to Seinfeld.

Breeders. Very true to life and funny as hell.

StewPots · 27/01/2023 09:04

And yes to Schitts Creek too, hilarious! I might have to rewatch!

Hobbesmanc · 27/01/2023 09:05

Also this country is laugh out loud funny. And Mandy. Criminally overlooked black physical comedy.

My favourite more recent ones are Motherland, Parks and Rec and Derry Girls. Older ones that I still love are Black Books, Spaced and The Office (UK, I never got on with the US version).

bluechameleon · 27/01/2023 09:22

Oh, I forgot Detectorists.

Thursa · 27/01/2023 09:40

If you can find Life In Pieces, it’s very good.

Have you seen The Rig? The woman who plays Stevie in SC is really bad in it.

Notgoodatpoetrybutgreatatlit · 27/01/2023 09:52

Community set in an American community college which is a bit like a cross between an fe college and a university, but I thought it was just like the university I went to. Especially the terrible administration staff.
Abbott Elementary , absolutely brilliant actors.
Made me howl with laughter, set in an American primary school and it is fake documentary but I'm a teacher and I think it is an actual documentary.
Avenue 5 I think if we ever do get into space these events will happen. Fantastic cast.

mrstea301 · 27/01/2023 09:57

Murder in Successville - a bit out there but hilarious!

mogtheexcellent · 27/01/2023 10:03

I rewatched the brittas empire on britbox last year. Forgot how laugh out loud funny it was.

MyfanwyMontez · 27/01/2023 10:04

I agree with Taskmaster- always has me laughing , even at my grumpiest .

JustMaggie · 27/01/2023 10:08

MASH, Cheers, Frasier, Modern Family, Fawlty Towers

Blabla81 · 27/01/2023 10:16

I really enjoyed Outlaws.
Ghosts too.

Mummieslncorporated · 27/01/2023 10:19

I second a lot of these.

Also: our flag means death. It's wonderful and available on iPlayer.

JuneOsborne · 27/01/2023 10:41

Jane the virgin is brilliant and underrated.

And, if you want to be infor the long haul, you can't beat Orange is the New Black. It's not just funny, it's sad and hard hitting, but also very funny!

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 27/01/2023 10:44

Zen Motoring. Short episodes as well.
