No but they're tasty, esp with the raisins in, so fine as a one off.

Needmorelego · 23/01/2023 09:22

I eat those for breakfast all the time. They are a normal breakfast food.
Not Waitrose though...mine come from Iceland 😂

Shrugs. Why does it matter - they’ve had it now and they’ll either have it again tomorrow or they’ll have wheatabix tomorrow.

Needmorelego · 23/01/2023 09:24

Why did you buy them if you don't think they are healthy?

Pringlepopping · 23/01/2023 09:25

I didn’t buy them dh did

How would it be any worse than weetabix? Give them some milk in a glass (flavoured if it's the only way they'll drink it) and /or a banana and you're fine!

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 23/01/2023 09:26

They are delicious carbs, sugar filled delights, not really healthy but not awful as an occasional treat.

You can add nutrients and vitamins by serving with fruit or Greek yoghurt as a topping.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Castle8 · 23/01/2023 09:28

If they are leaving the house with a full tummy then yes they are perfectly fine.

Ah, you want us to say that DH is unreasonable for buying crap food.

Mine had scotch pancakes regularly as children and we still eat them decades later. They taste nice with lots of butter and as an ocassional treat they are fine.

loveliesbleeding1 · 23/01/2023 09:46

No,they are fine.Honestly, the things people worry about on here.

knittingaddict · 23/01/2023 09:48

I should add that due to food sensory issues my youngest had scotch pancakes for breakfast every day for years. Miraculously she is a perfectly healthy adult at the slim end of the spectrum.

Findyourneutralspace · 23/01/2023 09:49

Yum! My kids would be delighted if I gave them those for breakfast. Not every meal has to be 100% nutritious. A once in a while treat is fine too.

gingercat02 · 23/01/2023 09:54

My teen has cream cheese sandwiches on white bread or porridge and frozen fruit. One extreme or the other! I dont care as long as he eats before he goes to school.
It's better than the ones I see leaving Sainsburys with energy drinks and family sized bags of crisps!

Favouritefruits · 23/01/2023 09:56

A little butter spread on one is fine, it’s a nice treaty breakfast for a miserable Monday.

FlounderingFruitcake · 23/01/2023 09:56

Of course they’re fine?! Yes they’re not as healthy as the weetabix but as one-off or occasional thing then it’s really not a big deal at all.

SoftSheen · 23/01/2023 09:57

It's fine. Homemade scotch pancakes are very easy though and much nicer!

Weetabix has fibre and is fortified with iron, and when eaten with milk has a moderate GI. I'm sure that some people would complain that it's ultra-processed but day in day out it's probably a better choice than yummy pancakes (which are also fine as a one-off).

Me too, though preferably the ones with raisins in them.

I bring them to work with me, say I'll have two now and the rest for a couple more days, but normally by lunchtime the packet is empty... So yummy!

OK, not the healthiest of breakfasts, but it's better than the kids going to school hungry OP!

Wallabyone · 23/01/2023 12:23

It's fine. Mine had chocolate pastries for breastfeeding today, with banana and raspberries-it's not everyday 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lol-breakfast, not breastfeeding 🤣🤣

Sparklfairy · 23/01/2023 12:26

They'll just be hungry much sooner but won't do them any harm

I'm not going to get dragged into a test of whether different results are found depending on whether it's a man or a woman who might be at fault, but I do judge anyone who buys pancakes, as the bought version is vastly inferior to home made ones, which are very cheap, quick and easy to make from storecupboard ingredients.

Needmorelego · 23/01/2023 12:35

@AtomicRitual yeah the raisin ones are best.
I might pick some up today. I haven't had any for a while. I fancy some now.

dontgobaconmyheart · 23/01/2023 12:38

Nutrition-wise, no, but they aren't a 'decent breakfast' for anyone of any age in that respect.

As a one off or even occasional thing then that's very different and I'm sure makes next to no difference at all to anyones life. The vast majority of breakfast marketed foods and cereals are full of sugar and rubbish anyway so I imagine there's very little difference between a bowl of sugary cereal or a cereal bar and a couple of pancakes.

I had a chocolate muffin and a cup of tea for breakfast this morning, it is what it is, I'll make an effort to have a healthier dinner.
