Feel a bit guilty when my kids eat these for breakfast
theh usually have weetabix but ran out

They've had food, they're all good

DrWhoNowww · 23/01/2023 12:42

@BarbaraofSeville slightly off topic but do you have a recipe/method you can point me to?

my homemade ones end up soggy or crispy or too cake-like.

So I end up buying the £1 ones from Asda for weekend breakfast.

For the OP though, as long as it’s not everyday then pancakes are fine!

CocoLux · 23/01/2023 12:51

They're fine. Sorry if you wanted to justify having a go at your DHz

They're fine OP, and I'm one of those who wouldn't let their kids have any cereal other than Weetabix or shreddies.

BadBear · 23/01/2023 13:02

Can we stop demonising food?! As you said, it's not a regular thing and it's not crack so they will be fine

TenoringBehind · 23/01/2023 13:05

It’s fine. Don’t give it another thought!

BitOutOfPractice · 23/01/2023 13:09

Oh goodness I want one now!

HolyZarquonsSingingSeals · 23/01/2023 13:11

No different from toast and marmalade in nutritional terms.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/01/2023 13:12

Maybe it was an "I shop at Waitrose" stealth boast

megletthesecond · 23/01/2023 13:13

Any breakfast on a winters day is a win.

My teen has a chocolate kinder bar, orange juice, chocolate cerel and packet mix cappuccino every day. Grim, but at least she's fuelled for the morning.

Needmorelego · 23/01/2023 13:14

I used to have Spaghetti Hoops on toast for breakfast when I was at primary school 😂

YukoandHiro · 23/01/2023 13:14

My kids have tons of severe allergies. I wish my worries around food were like yours.

loveliesbleeding1 · 23/01/2023 09:46

No,they are fine.Honestly, the things people worry about on here.

This.

My 2 year old had a crepe style pancake with banana and whipped cream for breakfast yesterday. Shoot me.

evemillbank · 23/01/2023 14:10

Mine alternate between having pancakes or cereal and occasionally waffles or a croissant. I think they are all much the same!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 23/01/2023 14:19

More interesting is why you feel you need strangers to validate this

You can't turn back time, what if every person in the world told you that you're the worst mother?

They've still eaten the breakfast

I literally dont understand why you're asking

Wishimaywishimight · 23/01/2023 14:39

Does everything have to have 'nutritional value'? Sometimes it's fine to eat something purely because you enjoy it! I had a thing called a "yumnut" at the weekend. A solid mix of sugar and fat - delicious 😋

Flapjackquack · 23/01/2023 14:41

@Wishimaywishimight - A doughnut yum yum? I am a big fan of the Cronut but 1 every few months is all you need 😂

serenghetti2011 · 23/01/2023 14:44

I make pancakes for mine on a Sunday they love them. Sometimes I freeze them for another day

Wishimaywishimight · 23/01/2023 14:47

@Flapjackquack Yes, it was in Marks and Spencer - looked and tasted like a cronut but with an M & S jaffa cake perched on top! Very tasty, will most definitely have another next time I'm in there (provided I've had only porridge for breakfast and a 'nutritious' dinner later on of course 😆

octopusrus · 23/01/2023 14:49

Probably no more sugar than jam on toast...

inappropriateraspberry · 23/01/2023 14:49

I wouldn't even think about the nutrition of a pancake, let alone look at the label! If the children enjoyed them then they're fine for breakfast. No worse than some of the cereal you can buy. Standard family food.
Or does your family normally live off lentils and chia seeds?

Frumpymumma · 23/01/2023 14:51

Better than being hungry.
My ds hated breakfast. The only thing he'd eat was a tuna sandwich or pizza etc. He grew up fine.

inappropriateraspberry · 23/01/2023 14:54

Actually, we have some pancakes that need eating up. Breakfast tomorrow is sorted!

Flapjackquack · 23/01/2023 14:56

@Wishimaywishimight adds M&S to list of weekend errands hmmm yes only after my chia seed poke bowl obviously.

A little butter spread on one is fine, it’s a nice treaty breakfast for a miserable Monday.

Hold on a second- ONE?? Would hardly touch the sides would it? They are tiny.
