I usually have white rice but a friend seems to think that's very odd? Occasionally a baked potato or just a roll/crusty bread.

What do you serve with it?

Rice or rolls usually although recently I've been putting it over potatoe wedges Grin

piefacedClique · 21/01/2023 20:49

Cous cous salad…. Whole grain cous cous rehydrated with marigold veg stock. Leave to cool…. Add cucumber, celery, pepper, chopped mint, carrot. Done!

dementedpixie · 21/01/2023 20:49

Potato wedges, rice or just tortilla chips
Or make into enchiladas and bake in the oven

Brown rice, salad and avocado.

Baked spud and cheese

Tortilla boats and loads of iceberg lettuce

Chips. Wedges. Or even just a lovely crusty loaf, hot from the breadmaking.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 21/01/2023 20:52

If you buy ready made chill it comes with rice

Timeforachangeisitnot · 21/01/2023 20:54

Is your friend from the US? In Texas, Chilli is served as a soup, maybe with corn chips, as a starter.

I could eat chilli every day, usually with brown basmati, but baked potato and tzatziki is a favourite round here.

MyMachineAndMe · 21/01/2023 20:55

Tortilla chips and soured cream.

DawdlingService · 21/01/2023 20:56

where is your friend from out of interest?

She's from Jersey.

White rice with fresh coriander chopped through.
Homemade guacamole.
Plenty of lime squeezed all over
Sour cream.
Grated cheddar cheese.

Whataplanker · 21/01/2023 20:59

Rice or jacket potato.
Sometimes just have left overs on its own for lunch at work but only because it's too much faff to prepare anything else.

Bowbellsx · 21/01/2023 21:00

Soft tacos with cheese mmmm 😋

musicmum75 · 21/01/2023 21:05

Smoked quinoa. So yummy!

KikoTheDancer · 21/01/2023 21:08

Wraps, jackets, rice, tacos....

jay55 · 21/01/2023 21:08

At school (in the 80s) it was always served with French stick.

I tend to have in a bowl in its own or with tortillas.

Purplemist · 21/01/2023 21:08

Chunky chips and grated cheese.

NerdyBird · 21/01/2023 21:09

We usually have tortilla chips and a caesar salad with chilli. Sour cream dolloped on top. Leftovers might get used for jacket potato or in a wrap. We rarely have rice.

SomethingAboutNothing · 21/01/2023 21:11

With white or brown rice and lashings of Philadelphia

cobblers123 · 21/01/2023 21:16

I had chilli tonight, normally have brown rice but tonight I just had two pitta breads and forgot the cheese. Was still nice though.

Krakenes · 21/01/2023 21:19

I eat it with diced raw onion, raw green peppers, coriander, and sometimes a dollop of sour cream or grated cheese. I don’t have it with rice or potatoes.

Whaaaat???? 😱

Yes, I should have said steamed or lightly braised strips of cabbage, drained then tossed with a knob of butter, put on the plate, chilli on top of that.

Low carb spag substitute 😁 truly delicious

Mother87 · 21/01/2023 21:31

Only ever white rice - didn't know there were other optionsGrin

You're walking a fine line between psychotic and genius! 👩‍🍳

Hohofortherobbers · 21/01/2023 21:34

Rice and corn on the cobs.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 21/01/2023 21:39

I like pitta bread and either mature Cheddar or sour cream.

Heston Blumenthal did an episode on chili a few years back and found most people preferred crunchy than soft as an accompaniment with chili in terms of mouthfeel. IIRC, he served his with tacos

mathanxiety · 21/01/2023 21:39

I serve it over what's known in the US as wide egg noodles, or rice.
