Karcher Window Vac

Morning, does anyone have one of these especially for dealing with window condensation in the mornings?

Is there a particular model you would recommend?

Are they easy and quick to use?

Grateful for any info before purchasing or not!

It's brill. A condensed patio door (4 floor to ceiling windows) can be cleared in 2 minutes.

I counted the windows in our house and it tops 60 (not stealth boast I promise) and I can clean the lot inside in about 1 hour

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 21/01/2023 10:42

I like mine, can use it sideways and upside down. My only complaint is that it had a small tank which needs emptying about 3-4 times but I also have a damp problem currently so maybe that's the issue.
Don't know the model - I got it second hand

SweetPetrichor · 21/01/2023 10:45

We use it for drying out the shower after use and it’s great.

I have one. Basic one it does have a smaller attachment for window panes which works with sash windows.

@SomersetBrie that's made me laugh out loud and I was in a mood and it's a long time since mumsnet has done that! you have a great Saturday! x

I know, right?
It's nice to find a mainly gentle supportive thread - even if it is about window vacs.
Have a great day too.

Champagneforeveryone · 21/01/2023 11:25

We have one that we use on the shower screen, our new house has small window panes that are too small to get the window vac in 🙄

It works brilliantly, but I wouldn't replace it if it gave up the ghost as I'm aware a squeegee would do the shower screen just as well.

ChimChimeny · 21/01/2023 11:28

We used to have one but it's just treating the condensation not the cause. We got loads so we put this in the loft

And use a dehumidifier on overnight downstairs & when cooking.

Can they be used on curved shower cubicles ?

Yes but you use it on its side and sweep along the arc of the curve

NeedWineNow · 21/01/2023 18:28

Yes, I've got one. I think I've got the most basic model but I've had it for at least 10 years. Love it. Makes very quick work of doing the windows (bowl of soapy water, wash, water off with the Karcher and then finish with dry microfibre cloth). I use it on mirrors, especially our mirrored wardrobes.

It's brilliant.

madeyemoody · 21/01/2023 18:36

I have one but rarely use it on windows, the window sill prevents it being used
All the way down the window. I do dry out the bathroom with it though, get all the moisture off the walls and shower screen. Makes a huge difference

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 21/01/2023 18:39

Probably the best gadget I've ever bought. You will be fighting over who cleans the windows.

taybert · 21/01/2023 18:49

I’ve got the basic Karcher in the house and the Aldi version in the car. Virtually identical and I think the Aldi one was £20 so worth looking out for.

Another thumbs up from me. We have two, one of which is probably the oldest, most basic model going, and they're both excellent.

We need to use them to remove condensation from our ancient, single glazed windows virtually every morning in Autumn and Winter and we really couldn't be without them.

Most times I use them, I despair of the time it would take me to deal with the windows if some clever soul didn't invent then!

Exactly the same here.

I'd immediately buy another if our ancient one died.

Bohemond · 21/01/2023 19:04

We love ours. Old house. Only one person has mentioned spills - we are forever knocking over glasses of water and it’s perfect.

redpinkyellow · 22/01/2023 15:33

Wow! Thanks for so many replies and thumbs up for the window vac.
I'm going to purchase one today.

We've a large glass shower too and I'd have never thought about using it on that as it makes my arm ache buffing the damn thing!

And with 2 kids under 5 we are never too far away from a spillage 😂

Glad I also made someone's Saturday!

Update! I love it! Thank you!

It's going to be one of those things that you wonder how you ever did without!

Could have done with it last night when DS knocked a vase full of water over 😂

My Mum bought me one for Christmas, best present ever. I have a lot of large windows and 3 fully tiled bathrooms.
Honestly it's life changing.

Could I ask which one you got please op? I'm really struggling to decide which model to get!
