What’s Happening In Your House?

Hope everyone’s having a nice Fri evening so far. Just got back from Tescos with DH & it was actually good fun - we don’t often go together. He’s cooking tonight ( ham & cheese omelettes & chips). He makes a mean omelette! I’m really tired as I wasn’t very well yesterday & had a rubbish night so will be in bed fairly early I reckon. Just got back into “ Married At First Sight Australia” which is totally addictive but DH hates it so we’ll probably watch Greys Anatomy. Oh & Corrie, although the storylines are getting increasingly silly!
Has anyone got any plans for the weekend? I’m not working tomorrow & will be making a slow cooker chicken tagine . Bought couscous to go with it. Have to drive DD14 out into the sticks for a sleepover so hopefully the Sat Nav will do it’s thing! Working Sunday til 1.30 then I might get stuck into some decluttering. Upstairs in our house is like a jumble sale! I need Stacey Solomon! We’re having an Iceland pork crackling joint, roasties with rosemary & garlic seasoning, cauliflower cheese, roast carrots & petitpois for tea. Always look forward to “ Call The Midwife”. Ideal Sunday night viewing.

Oh and I are discussing breaking up, been together 15 years, he's crying, I'm basically over it and coming across as hard hearted.
Mixed together with feelings of loss and heartbreak but I'll be buggered if I'm going to show it 💔

Rebelmcstreettuff · 20/01/2023 20:11

@Splcam that made me spit my tea out laughing! 😁
Me and DH waiting for TOTP at 8.30 because it's 1990 when we had the energy to go clubbing.
Had a dominos tonight after a tough week at work, caught up on love Island (said I wasn't going to watch it but can't help myself)

Tucked up in bed with poorly DS2 one side and clingy dog on the other. Might go downstairs soon and watch some netflix but right now enjoying feeling needed.

No wine tonight. Maybe tmrw if DS2 is feeling better, bless him

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 20/01/2023 20:26

Mumsnetting, eating crackers and catching up on the apprentice (What the fuck is wrong with all the women’s faces!!)
DH is putting DS to bed. DS is having a party tomorrow so rather DH than me. Contemplating a large gin as I’m anxious about the party - got somewhere between 30 and 40 kids coming. I really hope the entertainer turns up.

LeoEisor · 20/01/2023 20:28

I've had a bit of a stressful day at work so my OH has brought me a pizza from the local takeaway and we are sharing a bottle of Prosecco whilst watching the rig!

Ilovelurchers · 20/01/2023 20:32

Made a stir-fry for dinner then flapjack for dessert. I am watching the snooker. My husband has gone up to bed to read (I will go and join him soon) so unfortunately I just keep eating more flapjack!

mycatsanutter · 20/01/2023 20:40

@Campervangirl ah sorry to hear that , not a great Friday night then . You know when they start crying and you feel nothing that it's over 😩

Brandybucks · 20/01/2023 20:42

Lately started turning my phone off on Saturdays and enjoying how recharged I feel as a result.

Tomorrow morning we are schlepping our 4 boys out for the older twos swimming lessons. Then going to the dump. Then going to a baby shower. In the evening we always do family game night where each person picks a short game for everyone to play.

Sunday morning church and then taking turns looking after the kids with DH so we each get a break from parenting for a couple of hours! My introvert alarm starts ringing loudly otherwise 🚨

WhereIsMyRollingPin · 20/01/2023 20:43

I was going to repot some house plants but the pots and compost are in the shed at the end of the dark and freezing garden. So I have been pottering about, gathering up stuff for a charity shop run tomorrow. DH is talking to someone online, from one of his voluntary groups I think.

Early night I think, a hot water bottle, a mug of cocoa and a book. I'm sure my Friday nights used to be more dynamic than this 😂

ThreeRingCircus · 20/01/2023 20:50

DDs are tucked up in bed, DH and I have just had cheese toasties and chips and are now watching rubbish TV. Will take a cup of tea up to bed and read my book in a bit and get an early night as I'm shattered after a busy week at work.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for lunch which I'm really looking forward to for some adult only time, DH is taking DDs to the park.

On Sunday I want a really lazy day which we don't often do. I'm going to make bacon sandwiches for breakfast, wear comfy clothes and just stay at home watching films. If it's not too cold I've got a bit of gardening I need to do but that's it.

Susiesue61 · 20/01/2023 20:55

Having a couple of wines before I'm on call all weekend! DD has finished a long day (student nurse) and gone out to a party, DS1 out and DS2 out 😊 DH is dad taxiing DD so he's sober! Probably watch happy valley when he gets in and then I have to get up early to drop DD at placement before I go to work

Splcam · 20/01/2023 21:13

I take it all back, in shock news, my nest of tables appears to have got lost in the bowels of DPD logistics. It was destined for click and collect at an Argos but tracking states they attempted delivery 3 times but Argos weren't in. Meanwhile seller tells me the ominous word 'problem' is wafting around his tracking record. Parcel is currently in a dizzying back and forth between mystery addresses and depot. Can only assume consignment manager is on glue.

We won't find out WTF is going on til seller presses the nuclear button* on Monday. So that's just leant a frisson of excitement to my weekend.

Took DD to her college friends house for a sleepover on the other side of the city;im glad I'm not hosting the sleepover;6 teenagers;all have ASD;it's going to get very loud tonight;I don't think anyone will be getting much sleep.I stopped for coffee and doughnuts from Tim hortons drive thru on the way home.

Currently rewatching House of the Dragon whilst trying to ignore ive a fun filled weekend Which I detest of painting and decorating ahead which I'm missing a works conference that I quite wanted to attend for (it wasn't mandatory) and a job interview on Monday which is my first interview in 8 years so I'm really rusty.

applecatchers36 · 20/01/2023 23:18

Kids in bed, we just had a chilli, red wine an episode of the watcher then went to bed for a quickie but not so quick he has now gone to deal with our bed wetting child and I am mumsnetting the glamour of family life 😂

Giggorata · 20/01/2023 23:33

DH has stomped off to bed, after expressing how fed up he is with all the disruption re the house renovations. It has been rather a trying week, to be fair, but he will not take on board that it is only be done once, and there will be benefits in the end.
I wish that everything wasn't everywhere too, and can’t wait for this bit to be finished. When I look at my list, and see how little we've completed from it, my heart sinks. Time and money are in short supply.
My friend was here this afternoon, being very encouraging, and we had chocolate cake and a giggle, both sorely needed.
So I am downstairs, trying to decide whether to watch something on Netflix, have a shower, or fold laundry.

DinosApple · 21/01/2023 00:14

Just finished a birthday cake for DD2, tidying the kitchen, listening to a bit of Chuck Berry and telling myself I'll get up very early to wrap the last present.
Also have to do a bigger tidy in the morning because our new boiler was fitted in the week and the contents of the utility room and airing cupboard are scattered all over the house.

On the up side after over a month with no boiler, 14 degrees feels tropical 🤣.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 21/01/2023 02:58

In bed unable to sleep, browsing MN 🙄😊
Got several tasks done yesterday which was really satisfying, including boxing up about 150 books for the charity shop - a lovely guy from the village collected them too! I still have far too many.
Also sorted my yarn stash (again too big), cleaned through the house and did the washing.
Ddog had a fabulous off lead chase around at the dog walkers, came home exhausted and slept all afternoon and evening 😄
I wish I could get back to sleep……

Theoldwoman · 21/01/2023 03:25

It’s almost 11:30am Saturday here. Going to take my DD to work soon and pop into the supermarket while I’m out. Going to be a warm 38 degrees today so an inside day, have already taken the dog to the river for a swim at 7am.
Changing stuff around in my house, a change is as good as a rest they say!
