Stupidest place a courier has left your parcel?

I had a delivery today of barking heads puppy food, order was £50. Not money I can afford to loose ( like everyone else) I never heard them knock, I got an email to say it was delivered it to a ‘safe space’ I went outside, where was this safe space do you ask? On the pavement outside my house in full view of everyone walking past! ( my house has steps going up to the house, they’d obviously just dumped it there) Luckily only been out 5 minutes and hadn’t been stolen. Where have the genius’s left your parcels??

Found a parcel a year later when moving out, in the bushes by the bin store, forgotten I had ordered it, it was Clinique make up and has the date of the year before on the label, nice surprise to myself when I opened it.

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 20/01/2023 21:45

45kg of bird seed 3 boxes stacked, leaning against the gate that opened outwards. Thankfully I was out and could move them and open the gate.

This is the safe place Hermes (as was) left 3 parcels. Whilst out of sight he's holding the yellow key that nearly all households have to access their gas/electric meters so not really the "secure location" he professed it to be 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had a parcel delivered to my work address, but the courier left the parcel on the front desk, on top of all the outgoing post. 🙄 So of course the postman took it. It found its way back again after about ten days, but of course by then I'd had a refund from the retailer.

GettingStuffed · 20/01/2023 22:35

My dad's compost bin, said signed for

Littleguggi · 20/01/2023 22:38

In the wheelie bin or leaning again the front door

Frumpymumma · 20/01/2023 23:06

Small parcel behind wheel of my car. I did not see the email. I reversed out

Dippydinosaurus · 20/01/2023 23:18

Hermes (as it was then) posted a blank card through my door and sent me a picture of someone's doorway where they had left it. I then had to walk up and down our road trying to find which house it was

Front doorstep in plain sight of everyone. Thankfully I live in a nice neighbourhood as this has happened numerous times! Sometimes I also notice parcels lying at neighbours houses too. The last one left just before Christmas was a box and it had big Ted baker logo on it contents worth £160. Also another plain box left on top of that which had a kids toy in it worth £40 so £200 of stuff! Very noticeable!

I have a fenced off side garden they cld have dropped it over the fence at least or sometimes other couriers put item in one of the bins or kids playhouse.

Although bins are never a good idea. I once got parcel delivered from next but courier didn't put a note through my door. The delivery notification went to an email address I don't use often (as I have 2 next accounts). I remembered that the dress hasn't been delivered and I thought oh it's usually quick so I looked up tracking and found it saying delivered a week ago. Picture showed it on my blue bin. Panic set in when I try to remember what bin just got emptied. Luckily it hadn't been emptied but I had to go out an empty half of the contents to find the parcel! My husband must have put stuff on top thinking it was rubbish.

My friends husband actually works at recycling place and they get all the stuff from our bins to sift through removing non recycling items. He said the amount of parcels they find is unreal. From AirPods to designer t shirts. It's finders keepers for whoever finds it!

In the neighbour’s back garden, down an alley behind 2 gates. I was out with the dog and spotted the woman delivery person-she had loads of Amazon packages in her car. I went over and spoke to her, she realised she’d mis-counted the doors, even tho my number is hugely displayed and told me where she’d left it.

scoobydoo1971 · 20/01/2023 23:21

Yes they did, but it was hard work requiring letter before court claim, and guided by my fury at the damage caused. I had CCTV to back me up.

Builtforcomfortbutnotspeed · 20/01/2023 23:31

on my front doorstep-propped up against the door-3 different times
one while we where at work and it had been there for hours
thankfully nothing was stolen

once under our side gate-neighbours could have swiped it-i wouldn’t put it past them but thankfully they didnt

best one was my mothers parcel-it didn’t arrive so she rang the company who said it had
back and forth it went-they swore it had been delivered-she didn’t have it and finally got a refund
about two years later, she was clearing out the collection of bikes, outdoor toys and other kids crap she had collected over the years for my lot and she opened the white box that houses her gas meter (shows how often she checks it)
there was the missing parcel-a skirt-the driver must have been moving bikes and god knows what else for at least 15 minutes just to get to the gas box
there where 3 sheds, neighbours and a back doorstep he could have left it on/with

worst bit was it in that time had had her stomach stapled and lost 15 stone

it was useless to her by then

"Handed to Receptionist" - my house doesn't have one. Delivered to the primary school down our road. Luckily I'm a Governor so they called me

MidnightMeltdown · 20/01/2023 23:50

I once had a huge box left 'under the doormat', with the doormat balanced precariously on top of it!

JoeMaplin · 20/01/2023 23:53

Laptop left in ‘secure porch’ . Actually on front door step right by the street as I don’t have a porch, in a box marked Dell if the one the replacement Amazon had to send straight away was anything to go by. It should have been signed for and I hadn’t ticked leave in a safe place. And if I had it wouldn’t have been on the bloody doorstep!

JoeMaplin · 20/01/2023 23:54

Should have made it clear - obviously it was nicked!!

toomuchlaundry · 20/01/2023 23:59

On the pavement at the end of our drive. Didn’t bother to ring the bell, just dumped the parcel in the rain. It was in front of our car so we couldn’t see it. Luckily neighbour spotted it after a few hours.

Another time had a parcel thrown over the fence of a house with the same number but wrong street. Lady was disabled so didn’t see it. Finally a family member found it after a few days, by which time I had received a replacement parcel.

NameChange005 · 21/01/2023 00:02

Like pp, wheelie bin- why? Luckily I saw it before putting said bin out.
Also propped right against front door. I have a wall, at least TRY to hide it from opportunistic thieves walking past!

PuttingDownRoots · 21/01/2023 04:53

I've also had a parcel left with my receptionist. They even included her name... the name of my next door neighbours toddler.

My next door neighbour has the parcel.. but had no idea why her child's name had been used. It was an unusual name, and the child had been at nursery when it was delivered.

I definitely did not have a 2yo receptionist

Furries · 21/01/2023 05:05

Yesterday. Small cardboard envelope on top of my soaking wet doormat. The concrete step was drier! It had been there around 2 hours, had to dry the paperback book out on the radiator.

Note to self - ditch the outside doormat, it’s blooming pointless having it.

MrsMikeDrop · 21/01/2023 05:18

Bushes, thrown over gate. Was a total fluke I ever saw it as the buses are very bushy!

Can’t beat a busy bus!

Furries · 21/01/2023 05:22

Bushy 🤦🏻‍♀️

henchhen · 21/01/2023 07:57

Round the back of a house 7 doors away. When I rang to find out where it was they said "it's tracked as at your postcode - case closed". Only found it because my husband saw a delivery van outside that house while he was walking the dog and checked later on the off-chance

Exdpisatwat · 21/01/2023 08:55

I once had a very impressive Amazon delivery. The courier went round the back, climbed over my neighbours wet, festering pile of junk including a year old couch that has become a rat hotel, jumped over my big wooden planter and squeezed through 2 metre high bamboo, then risked death from other neighbours pitbull just to put the parcel on my back door step.
