Stupidest place a courier has left your parcel?

I had a delivery today of barking heads puppy food, order was £50. Not money I can afford to loose ( like everyone else) I never heard them knock, I got an email to say it was delivered it to a ‘safe space’ I went outside, where was this safe space do you ask? On the pavement outside my house in full view of everyone walking past! ( my house has steps going up to the house, they’d obviously just dumped it there) Luckily only been out 5 minutes and hadn’t been stolen. Where have the genius’s left your parcels??

In the recycling due to be collected that day. 2x chrome books. Amazon.

PugInTheHouse · 20/01/2023 15:55

Also had a Hermes driver deliver a parcel that was supposed to have aftershave in, they handed it to me but I noticed the box was completely ripped open and all the contents were missing, I refused delivery. They took it away just making a note that the parcel was damaged, they delivered it the next day taped up but obviously all the contents were still missing!

Naddd · 20/01/2023 15:57

Similar to yours. Except door opens directly onto the pavement and surprisingly it was stolen!

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 20/01/2023 15:57

Tossed over the 6 foot high side gate - it was a china tea pot!

Quail15 · 20/01/2023 15:57

I had a large box of green tea left a old rusty BBQ that was waiting to go to the tip. It was well hidden under our decking so I'm really not sure how he found it or why he left it there. (Had the options of knocking on our door as I was in, leaving in the shed, the log store or the green house)

BBQ was full of water so tea was unable - Amazon did send out a replacement the next day.

TeeBee · 20/01/2023 15:58

Yep, another left in the bin.

WitchDancer · 20/01/2023 15:59

Outside the door to my office building, bearing in mind there are 8 businesses running from there and every single one was in. It's a wonder it didn't get pinched as there are people constantly coming and going, in particular the solicitors clients Confused

Wheelie Bin
In front of house in plain view
Worst was something thrown over the back gate. We can't see that bit of the garden from the house but luckily found it.

Good places - Tucked behind the planter
Hidden behind the wheelie bin

SpinningFloppa · 20/01/2023 16:01

On the door step outside your house isn’t unusual I wouldn’t say. They all do that round here? I would say weirdest place for me was thrown over my back garden, it was a box of biscuits a relative had sent to my children for Xmas and I had no idea they had sent it so didn’t find it until days later soaking wet 😡

Yodel 'delivered' my dog food (£60 worth) to my house late last week when I was out. No issues, someone's in, they'll put it in the freezer. Got home at midnight, didn't think about the dog food, went to bed. Got up & went to work the next day. When I got home, I was told that 'a neighbour has delivered the dog food' a few hours ago. Yodel delivered it to the wrong No 3! Dog food had been sitting on their doorstep for about 14hrs before they discovered it, it was partially defrosted & had to be thrown away. And had to wait 2 days for a new box to be delivered. Had to improvise the dogs dinner in the meantime.. 🤦🏼🐾

Not the couriers fault -

Courier left parcel in designated safe space behind the car.
It was renal prescription cat food.

Arrived an hour after we left for holiday.

Helpful neighbour saw them leave it and knew we were away so took it in but didn't tell us, planning to drop it back when we returned.

Trouble was it was needed for the cat who was in the house awaiting the cat sitter each day!

Cue a cat sitter with no special diet food for the cat, and us from hundreds of miles away trying to source another emergency delivery (we were down to crumbs!) for poor cat, and an oblivious neighbour chuffed at doing such a good deed!!

Books left in an outhouse, it said delivery from Waterstones so fairly obvious it could be books, I think. Middle of winter. No card left, we were at home, no knock. Email to say they had been delivered but we couldn’t find them, photo was of a dark space.
Found them, eventually, due to damp ….the pages were ruined.

Antique glass thrown, yes thrown,( it said FRAGIL GLASS ) we caught the delivery man on camera…over the drive gate.

Broken…it lasted 200years but couldn’t survive a delivery from Evri

We ve had all sorts here. Left under and behind things, sometimes in full view of passers by. They can’t be bothered to walk 20 metres to the front door and actually press the doorbell

Royal Mail are brilliant though.

Riverlee · 20/01/2023 16:09

Also being hung on my front door handle. Wouldn’t take much for someone to pinch it.

i’ve always been amazed that people leave their returns in really obvious places for the same reason.

Just read your post.
We had a parcel left under our car
Who does that

Catsonskis · 20/01/2023 16:13

In my actual functioning well. Like old school well with water about a meter down, going god knows how many meters into the earth. How he didn’t hear the splash I’ll never know! Had to fish it out with the bucket. Luckily it was clothes in vacuum packed bags so weren’t ruined.

the kicker? I was IN THE HOUSE and they didn’t ring the bell, I just got a notification saying your item has been delivered and a picture of my well!

xogossipgirlxo · 20/01/2023 16:14

Playstation at the front door.
£300 motherboard in the bin.

ChaToilLeam · 20/01/2023 16:14

Thrown into neighbour’s garden, thankfully nothing breakable.

Hidden under bike rack at the front of our apartment block.

And taken to the parcel depot, but not the one listed on the card, but another about 5 miles away.

DHL are useless!

mathanxiety · 20/01/2023 16:16

Way round the back, at the bottom of the outside basement stairs, beside the drain, on a rainy day. I found it two days after being notified of delivery. The cardboard was soaked but luckily the item wasn't one that could be damaged by water. I had a front porch where he could have left it, and a working doorbell.

lopsey · 20/01/2023 16:18

My delivery driver left my Amazon box propped up against my recycling boxes which were out the front as due to be collected that day, by the time I got home from work the recycling and my delivery had been collected!

TheArtfulStodger · 20/01/2023 16:20

hermes evri left my calendar in the hedge. In the rain.

TheArtfulStodger · 20/01/2023 16:21

I should point out, said hedge was right next to the flat building's porch

DoYou · 20/01/2023 16:22

In my sons car which was parked outside my house. The car wasn't locked as he was just coming round to drop something off.

LolaMoon · 20/01/2023 16:23
  1. They threw a fragile package (marked fragile!) over our 6 foot garden fence into our back garden- was all smashed when I opened it!
  2. In the wheelie bin and the wheelie bin had "signed" for it!
  3. One card just said "hidden near property" and it took me 20 mins to find it!
milawops · 20/01/2023 16:23

In my recycling bin, which was outside my gate because it was bin day. Thankfully I got home before the bin was emptied.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2023 16:23

We've got a decent porch so usually there's no problem with parcels being left somewhere weird.
The only exception was when we ordered some charity cards, which seemed to have not arrived. About six months later, I noticed a damp and mouldering box tucked under the bench of the little arbour right at the bottom of my back garden.Confused
