Not sure why but I seem to be more sensitive. Unless he's a lot louder. But either way his snoring is keeping me awake and I'm having to sleep in another room. So has anyone found a decent solution please?

Loop ‘quiet’ ear plugs, amazing! Literally couldn’t live without them now!

@funnyoldonion I've been looking at these, and also for dd who has asd. Are they as amazing as the ads make them seem? Are they comfy to wear?

I hold his nose until he wakes up 😂

Losing weight made the biggest difference to oh snoring. Also his pillows make a surprising difference. If it's under his shoulders rather than just his neck, he always snores really loudly.

wobblyweasel · 18/01/2023 23:29

Short of murdering my DH, I've found that foam ear-plugs work quite well, and a well aimed elbow to Amy part of his anatomy 😂

*any ..... silly phone and silly predictive text 🙂

Another one recommending the mouth guard, dh got one from Amazon and it pretty much saved our marriage.

I got a new partner who sleeps quietly. It's great.

😂

No personal story but on another thread I posted a link to a tennis ball put in the garment of a snorer so that they find it uncomfortable to sleep on their back and have to sleep on their side which reduces snoring considerably.

I thought the tennis ball was going to go into his mouth then!

Silicone ear buds have been great

AngeloMysterioso · 19/01/2023 09:14

Quies soft foam earplugs.

Rhondaa · 19/01/2023 09:33

I second Bose sleep buds, 200 quid ish but worth every penny.

Can you side sleep in them.

Yes it obviously reduces the sounds on the side you're lying on but they are small enough that they don't stick in.

I tried silicone earplugs but nothing works like these. They don't block out sound 100% so if there was an emergency you would hear it, just the constant low white noise blocks out any snoring.

A swift and impactful kick up the arse, followed by 'STOP FUCKING SNORING!!!!'

Gooseysgirl · 19/01/2023 09:44

Following for better ideas...

I use these soft foam earplugs from Boots. They work quite well if they're fitted properly, but they can be fiddly to get right. I was wearing them and reading my kindle the other night when DS appeared beside my bed. Scared the bejesus out of me!

I have trouble sleeping anyway so if I get too fidgety I go in the spare room, sometimes I can still hear DH snoring from there, even with the earplugs.

I'm more worried about my sister's snoring. She sounds like a road drill. We're going away together for a long weekend soon and I'm going to need something more effective. I couldn't wear a bluetooth headband because I would overheat (menopausal). I'm thinking get very drunk and maybe buy some noise cancelling headphones to go over the earplugs.

Januarysickandtired · 19/01/2023 10:22

Separate bedrooms. Nothing else worked.

goldpendant · 19/01/2023 11:39

Has anyone tried proper headphones to sleep in? I seem to really struggle with in ear ones/plugs… defenders would be better but I side sleep…

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/01/2023 11:43

Mine is becoming resistant to the "jab and roll" method. Will try some of these other ideas.

If you wear ear plugs, can you still hear kids, alarm etc?

Very glad to find this thread.

Amazingly I’d never heard of Bose Sleep Buds before. I couldn’t see from a quick google that there’s a release date for the Mark 3 yet, but I’ll be ready and waiting when they drop.

Bestcatmum · 19/01/2023 12:56

My cpcp machine stops me snoring. I got one after my sleep apnoea caused a heart attack. Snoring should not be ignored.

squashyhat · 19/01/2023 13:02

As someone who once shoved my DH so hard when he was snoring he fell out of bed I feel your pain. He lost weight which helps a lot. Alcohol makes it worse but sleeping on his side lessens it (I nudge him if he's on his back so he turns over), Boots Muffles wax ear plugs are good, and as a last resort there's always the spare room.
