Not sure why but I seem to be more sensitive. Unless he's a lot louder. But either way his snoring is keeping me awake and I'm having to sleep in another room. So has anyone found a decent solution please?

My husband got one of those any aborning mouth guards which worked amazingly well! No snoring at all, however he finds it uncomfortable to wear.

I was the snorer and swear by my CPAP machine

Same. I can’t sleep without it.

Divorce worked like a charm 😉😂

I turned the spare bedroom into "my room". We both sleep much better in separate rooms.

Liz1tummypain · 18/01/2023 20:27

@Newuser82 , hi could you give me more detail on this mouth guard please? Is the brand called " aborning?" Do Amazon sell them, do you know?

Yes! A mouth guard (mandibular advancement device). It's honestly been life changing.

Same here. My boyfriend has started to wear the mouthguard and it works well. Apart from if he drinks too much.

Foam earplugs - ive tried tons and the Spark Plug ones from Amazon are the best.

Tonight I'm sleeping in dd2s bedroom - she's at uni.

Dh went to a sleep clinic and there's nothing wrong with him apparently

Greatly · 18/01/2023 20:28

Can anyone link to the mouthguard? Thanks.

BeExcellent2EachOther · 18/01/2023 20:29

Weight loss often helps (if your DH has a BMI that's not in the healthy range).

Me too - a game changer 👍

Newuser82 · 18/01/2023 20:36

@Liz1tummypain yes, it's called snoreeze oral device, it's on Amazon. £32 been a lifesaver! Well a marriage saver 😂.

SugarQills · 18/01/2023 20:37

Bose sleep buds

Justcashnosweets · 18/01/2023 20:37

Separate bedrooms here aswell!

LondonQueen · 18/01/2023 20:38

Pillow over the face for a few minutes is an effective solution.

Bose sleep buds

I am thinking of saving up for these. DH only snores occasionally, but he's otherwise a noisy sleeper! Pffing noises etc. I saw the sleep buds recommended recently and I like that they have a built in alarm, i always worry with ear plugs that I won't hear my alarm.

Smartiepants79 · 18/01/2023 20:45

Silicone earplugs and special sleep headphones thingy that plays white noise to cancel out the snoring.
He’s tried lots of things, nasal sprays, nose strips, jaw thingy…. Some of it works a bit but nothing is reliable.
We sleep separately at home, I just can’t take the insomnia. It was affecting my mental health quite severely.

bakewellbride · 18/01/2023 20:48

Breathe right nasal strips

Sleep clinic + CPAP machine. We both sleep much, much better

This.

Liz1tummypain · 18/01/2023 20:53

@Newuser82 thanks I'll see if I can get him to agree to try one of those. He's a big old baby about this kind of thing.

Newuser82 · 18/01/2023 20:54

@Liz1tummypain good luck! We had tried nasal strips, nasal spray, a visit to gp, ear plugs. This is the only thing we have found that works!

elevenplusdilemma · 18/01/2023 20:55

Has he gained weight? Being a bit (or a lot) overweight is the most common reason for snoring as neck fat obstructs the airways. Men whose necks measure less than 16" are much less likely to snore, so if he's bigger than that, losing weight is likely to help massively.

Liz1tummypain · 18/01/2023 20:57

@Newuser82 ok thanks for your advice. I think you're right I should accept we won't get to the bottom of it really quick.

What has worked for me is combining the silicone mouldable ear plugs (my favourite are Mack's on Amazon) and the lectofan white noise machine. I put it on the loudest fan setting and put it on the floor. The low tone and vibration cancels out the intermittent snoring bursts as you're tuned into hearing a constant noise so when another loud noise burts in, you don't register it.
Best £60 I've ever spent.

Sleep clinic and CPAP for DH who is an absolutely terrible snorer - who as it turned out stopped breathing hundreds of times an hour.

Same but it is me not DH!

My DH went carnivore with me when I needed to switch for my autoimmune disorder. He lost 7kg and his snoring disappeared.

Now when he eats carbs he goes from snoring 10-15 minutes to 4 hours!!! I was shocked but diet is the answer.
