If you have lost 5 stone or more how do you get used to your ‘new’ body?

If you have lost a significant amount of weight how easy did you find it to accept the changes? For example shopping for clothes.

I have lost a significant amount of weight and it is still hard to get used to. For example when I look at how small the waist of my jeans is I can’t believe that I actually can fit in to them etc.

I'd be interest to know too. I have five stone to lose and I'm worried about loose skin. How's yours? I fear I'll be left with an apron of stomach skin.

I always had a kind of reverse body Dysmorphia, I couldn’t believe how large the clothes were that I needed to buy. After losing 6 stone they seem normal again.
I have developed a bit of a shopping addiction. It used to be so hard to buy clothes, now it’s so easy, a bit too easy.

I’m early 40’s and my skins not too bad. I’ve
had an apron since having two Caesareans, so there’s no difference there.
I’ve had abdominal surgery and terrible stretch marks so it was a bit of a shit show anyway to be honest and at least now I’m not massively fat on top of it all.

I'm the same as Climbles. Before I lost weight i rarely looked at myself in the mirror so I had no sense of my size really.
I had weight loss surgery 1 year ago and I've lost 7 stone. I love my new body. I remember being this weight 20 years ago and I thought I was so heavy. I'm actually quite slim. It's great b

I asked a similar question a few years ago after losing 5.5st. Got accusesd of stealth boasting! Well done op! After 5 years I was still in awe at having armpits instead of pads of fat, my rings jangled on my fingers and finding out my outy belly button was actually an inny. I never did get used to it. It was wonderful. Then I became unwell and, with the help of medication and laying on the sofa, I gained back 3 stone! Ugh!

I was 17 stone 4 18 months ago and am now 12 stone 5. I'm 5ft 8". It's very weird learning to dress my new body am being constantly surprised that a Size 12 fits me.
Unfortunately at 53 my tummy sags but I figure it's a small price to pay.

For me the body and clothes were easy to get used to, it was harder to adjust to the way that strangers were nicer to me.
