Have you had a pay rise?

Heard on the news private sector pay rises of 7%. I don’t know anyone that’s had a pay rise this/last year and I’ve never had one above 2-3%.

Curious what industries are actually giving this? In mine and DH’s sector, the only way to get a pay rise is to hand in your notice and suddenly they find the money!

My sister gets a 2% rise if she hits an ‘excellent’ rating. Which I thought was alright but clearly some industries are taking care of their staff right now and I want to know where to look!

I work as a contractor in the energy industry. We got 2% pay rise. The energy company I work at, their staff got a 7% pay rise plus a bonus of either £1200 or £1500 (can't remember which).

Kenworthington · 17/01/2023 21:06

10% in the autumn/ am in sales/retail . Only one in my team to get it though .

Hattie72 · 17/01/2023 21:09

12% + bonus. I work in banking. I gave someone in my team 25% so rises have been good for us this year.

bookworm14 · 17/01/2023 21:11

I am in the charity sector and got 6%. Was expecting less so I’m fairly happy.

Still waiting on what will probably be 2%, public servant… should have been paid in June.

Same! I work for an arms length non-departmental government body, apparently our pay proposal has got as far as the minister, lawd knows when we'll get it

VanGoghsDog · 17/01/2023 21:39

Public servant. We got 2.8% last year and some bands got a cost of living payment. Mine was c1% of my annual salary.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 17/01/2023 21:45

Insurance. 7-8% pot allocated based on the company performance, market comparisons and cost of living, but what people will actually get will be partly based on individual performance.

Builtforcomfortbutnotspeed · 17/01/2023 21:51

We get a rise in April depending on how well we perform
last year,I got top ‘points’-they couldn’t fault me at all on how I do my job
had my review and was told I’d get a rise
a full drumroll 2p an hour more (i get paid hourly)

i told them they where welcome to keep it-that was an insult

Same. It should be backdated but we could really do with it now. Our energy bills gone up again this week 😞 costing us an additional £3 a day. This is the forth time and we've turned off, cutdown as far as we can.

gloov · 17/01/2023 21:52

Private sector. 15%. Asked for inflation + performance.

SueVineer · 17/01/2023 21:57

I think the private sector pay increases are skewed by rises in minimum wage. Increases for average person in private sector are much lower than public sector

Funkypickle · 17/01/2023 22:01

Fashion and beauty industry 8.33% pay rise plus 5% profit share puts me at up approx 6k + annually

Husband manufacturing sector director 11.5% pay rise plus additional 5k bonus

Songbird54321 · 17/01/2023 22:01

I work for a maintenance company and last year got around 9% increase plus 6% annual bonus.
Our next review is May so we shall see what we get this year.
My partner works for a bank and is getting 8% rise this year, they've also had a few cost of living payments over the past year of around £250.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 17/01/2023 22:08

I had a pay rise in March last year as I asked for one because I was doing someone else’s job too, that equates to £1,500.
I got 3% in December and £500 from management and then will be getting another 3% this month. Private education sector. I’m admin so don’t really earn much, so 3% doesn’t go far on nothing.
My dh hasn’t had a raise in two years. The company’s doing very well. His job is to save them money, so not sure why he hasn’t been rewarded for his efforts?

Myotherpetisamouse · 17/01/2023 22:13

Private sector. Family business of around 50 employees. 4% last April. And all their other bills are going up. Personally I feel lucky to have the job and am not expecting much else.

Spectre8 · 17/01/2023 22:23

Public sector transport no payrise in 2yrs and no idea if we will get one this yr or next. No bonus and no cost of living payments.

But god forbid if we strike to fight for a payrise...🙄

gloov · 17/01/2023 22:25

Everyone I know working in private sector professional jobs had either had at least 8% in 2022 or been laid off.

gravyriceandchips · 17/01/2023 22:26

Private sector and I got 4%

MotherOfRatios · 17/01/2023 22:27

Third sector and nothing

Marmite27 · 17/01/2023 22:28

Finance, 3.5% last year, £1500 coat of living payment in September, 8.3% in March. Annual bonus of £1200 also due in March.

This years bonus is a bit on the low side, but the higher raise and CoL payment make up for it.

CeriB82 · 17/01/2023 22:29

i got what equates to 4 pints of milk a day.

fucking lousy.

Testng123 · 17/01/2023 22:37

Yes but I took on additional responsibilities. Just worked out I got 17%! Wow.
Private sector - tech

Alarae · 17/01/2023 22:41

I've had two rises in 2022. April was our annual pay review and I got just over 7% then. There was another review in October due to inflation, movement in the market etc and I got over 6% on my uplifted April salary. In all I've had an increase of over 14% from the start of 2022.

The cynical part of me thinks that I've just been underpaid in my role, as I made it clear I found my salary unfair compared to people who were newly promoted to my grade but earning more than me.

Obviously I still appreciate I'm lucky to get an increase considering many others haven't.

caringcarer · 17/01/2023 22:45

I'm a Foster Carer and got 4.5 percent. Last year got 4 percent. I do get a loyalty bonus of £500 each year.

My dh only got 2 percent this year and 1 percent last year. Works for government, akin to civil service.

My son got 3.5 percent and a £365 bonus for attendance. Basically it starts at 365 and you lose £1 for each day you have off sick.

No one I know has been given these enormous pay rises. I know one person who got 5 percent. No one any higher.

Asdf12345 · 17/01/2023 22:47

The other half got about 15% then another 10% three months later as they were losing too many staff to competitors offering larger raises. They work in pharma.
