Have you had a pay rise?

Heard on the news private sector pay rises of 7%. I don’t know anyone that’s had a pay rise this/last year and I’ve never had one above 2-3%.

Curious what industries are actually giving this? In mine and DH’s sector, the only way to get a pay rise is to hand in your notice and suddenly they find the money!

My sister gets a 2% rise if she hits an ‘excellent’ rating. Which I thought was alright but clearly some industries are taking care of their staff right now and I want to know where to look!

I work in Insurance Services and got .5% yet again. My friends in private sector have never had one of those mythical large wage rises and no spinal points etc either to help increase income.

Babytwodue · 17/01/2023 18:33

Private sector and had 4% mid 2022 and 3.5% Jan 2023
The one last year was specifically to help with cost of living. January one is annual.

Fuckitydoodah · 17/01/2023 18:34

Should hear any day what I'm due. 2% last year, expecting less this year.

bouxyou · 17/01/2023 18:34

My husband is currently in the midst of a pay review. The union has requested 15% which obviously is laughable, along with £750 one off bonus. They've offered 6% with £250 one off bonus.

There's been a ballot for strike action 🙄

resipsa · 17/01/2023 18:34

Law - zero as it has been for 4 years 😬

Tontostitis · 17/01/2023 18:34

No and in the building industry a pay cut is becoming normal.

goldpendant · 17/01/2023 18:35

Still waiting on what will probably be 2%, public servant… should have been paid in June.

Squeakyegg22 · 17/01/2023 18:35

Nope. Retail sector

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/01/2023 18:36

Service sector - we typically get an annual rise. This year it's been brought forward and enhanced in response to the cost of living crisis.

Danikm151 · 17/01/2023 18:37

I got a 4% merit rise in autumn courtesy of my manager going to bat for me. No idea about the annual rise yet. It’s usually 2% but that isn’t going to cut it at all

CaitCannoli · 17/01/2023 18:37

Yes, 15%

I tend to get 10% a year, extra this year due to inflation

WeWereInParis · 17/01/2023 18:37

7%, plus additional £1,500 cost of living payment this winter for everyone earning under £50k - work in financial services

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 17/01/2023 18:38

3% last year, getting 5% in March. Lower rate tax payers are getting 7.5%. Charity.

devildeepbluesea · 17/01/2023 18:38

4%, public sector. Due to be paid this month, backdated. Will barely make a dent TBH.

Celia24 · 17/01/2023 18:39

I've recently received 10% in private sector.

pinkfondu · 17/01/2023 18:39

Ope

BestIsWest · 17/01/2023 18:39

O% since I started this job 5 years ago - had some small lump sum payments but they haven’t been consolidated into my pension.

Coffeaddict · 17/01/2023 18:39

DP works for santander, they just got 7%.

I work in HE got 3% last year and the union have just rejected a 5% ( I think) parish so will realistically probably end up nearer the 7-10% mark

Coffeaddict · 17/01/2023 18:40

Oh yeah DP is also getting a £500 cost of living payment

newtowelsplease · 17/01/2023 18:40

Nope. Civil servant, 0% last year. Still in discussion with unions this year but not expecting more than 1.5-2%. It's the first time I've considered going back to the private sector in 10 years.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/01/2023 18:41

3.5% this year.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 17/01/2023 18:42

9%.
School support staff.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/01/2023 18:42

Oh and a £250 cost of living payment next month

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 17/01/2023 18:43

DH works in tech. He is getting 8% plus a one off £4K cost of living payment. He will get a bonus on top as company is performing well.

I'm public sector so will get between 0 and 2%. It'll be paid late if we get anything.

Thank goodness one of us is private sector.

ComtesseDeSpair · 17/01/2023 18:43

Insurance. We’re getting the industry average of 8% rise plus a CoL payment of £5,000 split across 2022 and 2023. Our company also did very well in 2022 so the performance-calculation-based element of our annual bonus will be waived this year and everyone will get flat bonus of 30% of salary.
