Your worst, funniest, most memorable job interview?

I had a flashback to mine, it was a group interview and the two men doing the interviews were dicks and so full of themselves. For example one turned up late, in a convertible sports car and instantly starting telling people about the crazy weekend he’d had.

They passed everyone on the first round and the second round we had to give them an inspirational speech. They didn’t put me through to the next round, and as I left I said “thank you for your time” genuine and with a smile and neither of them even acknowledged me.

Went for a job once. Realised when I got there that all the women were eerily similar (think tall, blond, willowy - I'm a short, dumpy brunette). The interviewer was very strange and sexist. My interview went on until past 5pm yet the next day in the post I got the not entirely unexpected rejection letter...it must have been typed and sent as I went into the interview. Bullet dodged.

I spoke to a couple of recruiters who wanted to place someone in an ad I'd posted.

One woman was furiously keen to push her candidate. Gave a lot of dramatic spiel about how she was SO qualified and worth SO much more, but she could probably "swing a salary of X" with her. X being 10k above the advertised range.

The woman goes and applies for the job anyway without her recruiter. I shortlist her because her CV is decent. Recruiter gets wind of this and starts banging on at me about commission.

I interview her. She's categorically the lowest performer at interview. Performs very weakly in set tasks. Hire someone else.

And the recruiter STILL won't get off my back. I discriminated against her because I'd have to pay the commission. The only possible discrimination was thinking "is that it?" after she'd been massively over hyped.

Anyway, two years later, I'm in the hairdresser. Get chatting to the woman next to me. We both think we recognise the other. I eventually twig that it's the bad interviewee, and become desperately flushed remembering all the fucking palaver around interviewing her. I don't think she remembered me!

I was completely lulled into a false sense of security and began slating an ex employer. In hind sight interviewers encouraged it but I was silly enough to continue. Safe to say I didn’t get the job but I did meet my future dh at the next job I did get so it was no big loss!

My first job interview when I started living full time as Amy was with a well known discount clothes chain. The lady interviewer, when I explained I was transitioning, asked me if I wore tights or stockings as she found the tights they sold were oddly sized.

Got the shits halfway through the interview. Had to excuse myself then run out through the back door when I'd finished destroying the toilet.

Weirdly I didn't get the job
