Thoughts on housing benefit fraud?

Would you report it?

Does it depend on who it is?

My dsd's mother is doing this basically, i was telling a friend about it and she was shocked that I am not reporting it. I explained that im not because of dsd.

I have always hated it when people abuse the system such as she is doing. Claiming full housing benefit, but driving an expensive car, living with partner who earns far higher than the average wage. Then there's the bragging, which is very tasteless imo.

Anyway, i have my opinion but i stay out of it, none of my business. But my friend was almost annoyed at me and felt very strongly.

What would you do?

Why are you gossiping about her to other people?

I thought this

How do you know it’s fraud?! Lots of people live with partners on a good wage, and have expensive things and are entitled to housing benefit!

Of course they don't. Well not unless rent is extortionately high.

maybe it is?! And also everyone’s circumstances are different. I know someone who’s partners on a very good wage and they still receive housing help through universal credit! It’s based on individual circumstances.

You have given zero information. They drive a nice car. Wow.

Have you seen their wage slips
