I love my shark

ladygindiva · 08/01/2023 17:00

There's some fab reductions on the shark site too

jennakitt · 08/01/2023 17:02

Henry is no bother. Years upon years old. Shark is the one I see most frequently in those Facebook groups; it's usually blocked or tangled with hair.

If Henry ever dies I'd buy a Miele cat and dog as I've only heard good things about it.

This is the newer version of mine, which is excellent. Comes with 2 batteries. It takes about 1.5 batteries to clean our 4 bed house.

The ability to vacuum under furniture is really useful and the headlights are game changing.

I have a fancy cordless dyson and a Henry.

The Henry cost 1/5 of what the dyson did.

I use the Henry far far more.

And it was £100 on an offer 🤷🏼‍♀️

LBOCS2 · 08/01/2023 17:10

Miele cat and dog (or a Sebo if you're on one level/don't have many stairs).

My sister has the sebo from DM's house, which DM had had for at least five years when she died, in 2014. It's still going strong.

My Miele is almost as old as my relationship and older than my elder daughter who is ten.

They both work just as well as they did when they were new, and I wouldn't look at anything else when it comes to replacing ours when it finally dies.

2chocolateoranges · 08/01/2023 17:11

Lots to look for, can anyone give me links to the models you have?

Sorry, I can't recommend it, it's a Dyson cordless. It cleans perfectly well, but every sodding Dyson we've had, has a design flaw that does my head in.

This one is no different.

MzLucky · 08/01/2023 17:15

I bought a shark last year and absolutely hate it. It hardly picks up and gets blocked easily, I have to clean the brushes after every use. I honestly hate it with a passion.

I have a Henry also and he's absolutely amazing. I will never cheat on him again.

KitBumbleB · 08/01/2023 17:18

I love my Henry, despite his near constant silent judging

Milkand2sugarsplease · 08/01/2023 17:23

We dislike our corded shark. It topples easily when using it and it's suction decreased spectacularly pretty quickly. We've had it in pieces loads of times but it's never made much difference.
It has a reasonable size collection box which is a plus but struggles with long hair in the "anti wrap" thingy (technical term right there).

If anyone can particularly recommend one for long (human) hair and short pet fur, I'd be interested.

OnaBegonia · 08/01/2023 17:25

Henry, well Hetty the pink one, is the best I've had to combat dog hair.

purser25 · 08/01/2023 17:26

I love my cordless gtech but others might not easy to push around

Floomobal · 08/01/2023 17:27

In a pet household, if you ever use a Dyson straight after a Henry, you’ll be horrified at how little the Henry actually picks up.

It’s cheap, and fine for making things look clean and tidy, but it doesn’t actually take much up.

Slimjimtobe · 08/01/2023 17:27

I love my dyson cordless but we have to buy a new battery every 18months or so

Findyourneutralspace · 08/01/2023 17:28

I love my Miele cat and dog (cylinder). Not a fan of my upright shark. The anti hair wrap thing is a con. It just gets tangled up.

24petlegs · 08/01/2023 17:29

Henry is fab.
His predecessor was a Dyson cordless. It's battery lasted 15 mins max before needing to be recharged. Great for small jobs but utterly useless when wanting to do a big clean.

Absolute nonsense!

Henry picks up more blindfolded than the Dyson picks up with a guide dog.

Henry pick up feathers, ling hair & builders rubble, bloody Dyson coukdnt pick up a cold.

Also had a vax on the back of threads here, ultra useless!

the only thing that frustrates me about Henry is his weight, but at least he knows how to clean a floor!!

the stick ones are convenient but crap (IMO)

Soozikinzii · 08/01/2023 17:33

I also love my miele cat and dog .Have shark cordless which is OK to nip round with and honiture robot hoover keeps on top of dog hair . Don't judge me! We've got a black lab that moults so they are all needed!

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 08/01/2023 17:37

Henry - very powerful suck, lasts forever.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 08/01/2023 17:39

Worst vacuum I’ve ever used was a Henry.
the push along carpet sweeper did better.

Deanefan · 08/01/2023 17:42

I’m also looking to replace our vacuum. Large carpeted rooms, wooden hallway and also quite a few stairs! What should we go for Sebo X, sebo Felix or Miele complete C3?.

Grateful for any pros and cons from owners of these models

Avrenim · 08/01/2023 17:43

Henry pet. Like him even better as he was on special as the corner of the outer box was damaged. We have still had to clean the rollers occasionally though as other half is a rampant knitter....

Karwomannghia · 08/01/2023 17:45

Bought a shark after recommendations on here. If gets blocked so easily. Such a pain.

A Ewbank 😀

Surely not. My friend has one, from the 1950s (They collect that sort of thing) for light crumbs and to entertain.
