I love my shark….I’d vacuumed the whole house with Henry the day before and you should have seen what the shark picked up that Henry had missed!! And I always vacuum daily (downstairs) it was grim….

My over 10 years old Miele cylinder cleaner has been in the garage since I bought my Shark about 6 months ago.
The Shark does the job but I can’t make myself like it. I’m not convinced it picks up as well as the Miele did so I’ve just ordered some new dust bags for it and am going back to using that. The fact that it has to be plugged in doesn’t bother me at all as it has a really long cord and my house is only small
I do also have a small hand held Shark with just 8 minutes running time which I find I use all the time to pick up bits I see on the carpet

Henry Hoover all the way! I used to have a Dyson cordless, but it was really fussy about what it would hoover up. Nothing seems to faze Henry. Would definitely recommend.

WarningToTheCurious · 08/01/2023 18:15

I have the basic Miele and it’s way past the 10 year guarantee I got with it.

I’ve heard that Henry and his silent judging has a bit of a secret …

Shark

tootrueblue · 08/01/2023 18:24

Miele - gift from DM and brilliant. We have 2 dogs and it easily gets all their hair up. Also got an upright Dyson but it's so awkward and heavy.

Shark cordless is the biggest pile of crap ever. Constantly blocked and the anti tangle thing doesn't work. Had to take it to bits and unblock twice a week. And suction quickly decreases with no apparent reason. Too many filters. Heavy and looks ugly. Mine was the most expensive one bought 3 years ago. Only good thing is the ability to swap batteries. Can't even pick toast crumbs up, it just flicks them all over the place. Doesn't get into corners and edges well.

Thankfully now back to a Dyson cordless. It was £430 on offer so not the newest model, and I have come to accept they have a life span of about 3 years. Bought a £53.99 4 year warranty from Argos which covers the accessories, battery, and accidental damage, so every eventuality. If they come out twice to it, the next time they replace with new. Seems a no brainer to me so we should get this one to last 4 years. A cordless might not be suitable for your household though. We have a 4 bedroom house, 2 kids, non pets, 50/50 carpets and hard floors. Done tend to do a 'big clean' as we both work full time so it's a quick whizz round a few rooms at a time so it's perfect for us.

InBerlin · 08/01/2023 18:42

Henry. All day long.

Karmagoat · 08/01/2023 18:53

Henry. Great suction, lasts forever and you can buy the different attachments separately if one breaks.
Theres a reason that most cleaning companies use them (I work as a cleaner).

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 08/01/2023 18:53

I think we must have the predecessor to this Shark.

It's absolutly fabulous, as since we've had it, I haven't vacuumed - the kids have done it all!!

Pearbear · 08/01/2023 19:04

Henry, big and heavy but he’s does the job well.

All the cleaners I know use a Henry or Hetty

SilentHedges · 08/01/2023 19:37

Miele Cat and Dog C3. I feel it's my duty to tell people about it. Circa £329 Argos etc.

SilentHedges · 08/01/2023 19:40

@toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 Agreed. Shark Cordless is an absolute sack of crap. I'm still fuming at how much I spent on it. It's like owning an extra pet, the amount of maintenance it needs. It spits out practically everything. Hate beyond words.

That’s hilarious

catinboots123 · 08/01/2023 19:55

I have a cordless shark (maybe about £300) and it's a stupid temperamental cloggy fucker. I miss my old Henry

Notplayingball · 08/01/2023 19:59

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 08/01/2023 17:37

Henry - very powerful suck, lasts forever.

Agree. Henry hands down.

Exasperatednow · 08/01/2023 20:02

Love my anti hair wrap shark. Long haired dd, 2cats and a dog. And a muddy ds (rugby).

CameronK · 08/01/2023 20:04

Miele complete c2. Best hoover I've ever had. Plenty of suction settings and a quite one too. The power from it is unparalleled though for the price.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/01/2023 20:07

There really is a huge gap in the market for a decent upright bagless cleaner with good tools including a power head for stairs that also deals with hair.

I cant recommend anything as I am on the look out too, but I can say Shark is the most shit vacuum I have ever used.

Spanielsarepainless · 08/01/2023 20:11

Miele Cat and Dog Max. I haven't had a new one since the EU reduced their power but I have used them for thirty years.

I wonder if we'll get our powerful vacuums back now?

I was Dyson team. since I’ve known them, always brilliant, fancied a change and bought a Shark( waste of money , went back to Dyson-realised the quality is not the same and starts to struggle after two years. I’m seriously considering a Miele

Coffeesnob11 · 08/01/2023 20:20

The cordless shark I bought thanks to a thread on here is damn useless. My sister swears by her cordless Dyson but I have never been a fan of them. Considering a cordless Henry at the moment!

CatchHimDerry · 08/01/2023 20:22

Another vote for Henry

I literally hoover up anything, such as chunks of our fireplace chimney that fall down regularly with heaps of soot and ash… it still lives!
