Miele Complete C3 - had it 8 years and it’s like new. Light, robust, great power. I’ve tried Dyson’s in other houses and they seem useless, terrible suction, battery malfunctions, poor quality parts, feel flimsy. I really don’t get the attraction.

For the poster who asked for pros and cons. I can’t really think of any cons. I prefer a vacuum cleaner with a bag because I find emptying the containers a bit disgusting especially in animal houses. I also don’t really see the need for cordless, but that’s because I’m happy to take out the corded one whenever I need it and I don’t have any issues lifting it for stairs etc. I actually find the cordless dysons quite heavy so if you have wrist problems I don’t think they’re great. So… I guess it depends on what you need but I highly recommend the Miele.

Love my shark, it's amazing!! Although it weighs a bloody tonne, but means I get a work out as well as cleaning, win win 😂

RandomMess · 08/01/2023 20:25

Miele the basic model is fine the others just have extra features like electronic controls.

I'm thinking a Henry too as I've got a Shark cordless which is arse, and the last few dysons don't survive very long (albeit DH Di’s hoover up baby sick with my new Dyson once - he nearly died!!)

I'm not spending £500 on a Miele

Are the other Henry type ones good - my DS thinks we need a Charles

CheesenCrackersmm · 08/01/2023 20:29

Can you clarify what you mean by "need an upgrade"?

That aside I would never have another Dyson again. Currently got a Henry and it is bloody brilliant and feels completely indestructable.

hate me shark , can not wait until it breaks

FirstFallopians · 08/01/2023 20:41

We have a corded Shark and I love it- it’s really versatile and does hard and carpeted floors well. The tube detaches really easily to get into corners and skirting etc.

Never had any issues with blockages etc. I’ve tried cordless and they’re less effective and I found it annoying having to have one more to worry about charging. My sister has a cordless Dyson and she’s taking to asking for a lens of my Shark when she’s doing an intense clean as it just picks up so much more.

RandomMess · 08/01/2023 20:44

@custardbear Miele start from £159 at John Lewis??

BackT · 08/01/2023 20:50

Just returned the Shark. Very disappointing. Just didnt pick much up. Too bulky for a cordless handheld, too weak to be the "main" vacuum.

I've gone back to my Dyson V8 and got a new battery for it off Amazon for £25.

Have a Dyson DC25 (?) with a ball which picks up everything.

Tried Henry, agree that it sort of does the job but if I went over the same carpet with my Dyson straight after it picked up a LOT more which the Henry had missed.

Also had a Miele and that was pretty good if you just want a big standard machine.

It depends what your plans are with it.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 08/01/2023 20:51

@FirstFallopians
our corded shark is great too. Copes with lots of hair, of human and dog.

I think people who don’t like them tend to have/have tried cordless.

DaVariance · 08/01/2023 20:52

I bought a little Miele before Christmas and it's blown me away with its suction power and it's so light for the stairs. It has great attachments too. It was from JL and around or under the £200 mark

DaVariance · 08/01/2023 20:55

This is the one and that's what I paid for it.

Recommend me your vacuum cleaner

I wonder if we'll get our powerful vacuums back now?

Wattage is not the same as suckage.

You can have higher wattage and all it will do is up your electricity consumption.

DaVariance · 08/01/2023 20:58

Each time you buy a box of the Miele hoover bags it comes with a new filter (2 parts) so that's worth it.

It sucks everything in sight like my silk scarf on its first use but luckily it's easy enough to retrieve from the bag

The good news is that the basic Miele (like mine) is £159.

The shark reviews here have been mostly negative!

I’ve got a vax vacuum just now that that was amazing when I got it , it’s a bit heavy however it does have an adjustable height handle which I really like but it just isn’t doing the job and has the hose sellotaped on as the clip holding it on is broken,

I also should have said it needs to be an upright as I have a dodgy back and cylinder ones are no use.

OP posts:
mellongoose · 09/01/2023 06:16

I have a vax upright which is okay but not brilliant and a bit lightweight. We also have a Henry, but Henry and I don't get on. He bashes my legs, falls over a lot and smells of dog.

Am interested in a new upright which will sort out the dog hair and is lightweight. I'm wondering if the Sharks with cords are better?

Another vote for Shark
