Do you remove the middle of parsnips?

I've always cut them length ways in half, then quarters then used a peeler to remove the middle.

Is it necessary? Tedious 😂

I used to ( taught that way) but recently decided life is too short!

Something in the back of my head is telling me a story that more modern varieties of parsnip have removed the need for it, except when very large, and that in the distant past parsnips and carrots would both need to be cored. But that might be a memory of something I dreamt.

Hi OP, you are not alone! I love parsnips and I do this especially for large woody ones I’m going to roast. I just chop into smaller chunks for casseroles. Xx
