Polite ways of telling guests it’s time to leave

I want to get better at this - enjoying people’s company in my house eg for an afternoon or evening, but when enough is enough how to politely indicate it’s time to wrap things up and for them to go?

Just wondered if anyone has stock phrases you rely on!

Yes, I think it's very British to say "Would you like one last drink before you go?".
To be honest, I'm rarely in that situation. Our guests always seem to pick the perfect time to leave and don't outstay their welcome.
However, we do know one couple who come for lunch every so often. They always hang around well in to late evening and start dropping hints about dinner! I always act oblivious and keep saying things like "Well the children better get on with their homework now." etc until they finally leave.

Apparently in Germany there's a phrase that translates to 'I have been visited enough' and it's perfectly acceptable to just come out with it when you want people to go. We need to adopt it!

Oh this would be ideal! Yes let’s adopt it 😀

Mine with clients is, "right, I can talk for ever, can't I (insert laugh), don't let me hold you up!).

My Granda used to slap his knees, say right loudly and stand up saying I must wind the clock up and put the cat out! They didn't have a cat lol but it worked every time!
