Caribbean - is it worth it for family hol?

Am due a long awaited payout from work and am thinking of blowing a chunk of it on a family winter sun holiday in Feb or Mar (kids primary ages).

Really fancy the Caribbean, but have never been and no idea which islands / countries make sense with kids.

Looking for experiences / thoughts / suggestions 🙏🏻

Or should I just look at Canaries and stop humming along to Billy Ocean in my head 😆

We went with Cuba Direct. I can’t remember how much it was, sorry. It wasn’t cheap though! We had a few days in Havana in a boutique hotel, then travelled across the island stopping in Trinidad (the town, not the island!) overnight before moving on to Cayo Santa Maria for 5 days on the beach. Loved all three places, all very different.

Barbados is lovely, friendly, and quite a lot of fun and interesting things to do (submarine, flower forest, andromeda gardens, Harrison’s Caves, earthworks, sugar hill) as well as lovely beaches. The west coast and St Lucy region is worth a visit too. Best thing is, you don’t have to be stuck in a resort, it’s very safe to go anywhere. Try Patisserie Flindt for the most lovely cakes!
The only thing is the driving can be a little hair raising and I wouldn’t drive at night as the roads sometimes have massive ditches down the side. It’s ok in the day though. Plenty of taxis are available though.
Have a look at Port St Charles, where you can hire little apartments instead of hotel rooms, and there’s a pool as well. Some of the rooms even have their own plunge pool.

The Caribbean is lovely although never been with kids. Have you thought of Mexico. I’ve been a few times when the kids were younger and it was brilliant. You’ll find than an AI resort usually has a good kids club and lots of planned activities throughout the day

Never been to the Caribbean but omg I need to!! Have been to Mexico with young kids, flight was hard with a 2 year old but the resort was good, we went to tulum.
Little one did catch hand foot and mouth though !

We have been to Cape Verde Boa Vista, it was pretty boring to be honest ! The sea is lethal and not safe for kids (or adults really) stunning beach though
