I wish the dark afternoons would do one!

It is 4:00PM and it’s already starting to get dark. I am the kind of person who prefers the dark winter evenings over the brighter summer evenings (I still do like spring and summer) but it is so depressing when it gets dark this early.

I would be much happier if it got dark between 7.30-8.30, although there is sod all I can do about it as it’s Mother Nature! 😂

The only good thing about it is how happy you feel when it gets better

I'm not half as productive when it's winter. I seem to get my mojo back come March. It's as though a weight has lifted off me.

SAD (seasonal affective disorder is it called?) comes to mind. Is it an actual "thing" do those lamps really help? 🤔

I may look into it.

The lamps help me. I bought one in lockdown and finds it helps my mood and energy levels. Use it for about 15-30 minutes a few times a week. Not diagnosed with SAD, just like a bit of light, I think! Has to be a certain number of Lux - 10,000 springs to mind??

I hate it too BUT the difference in light in the afternoon is changing already. On the 28th Dec sunset was 15.52 but on the 18 Jan it’s 16.12 and will only get better. I love the fact we’re closer to the start of Spring - my bulbs are already poking out of my garden tubs. Give it a fortnight and the £1 daffs will be back in the shops.

It sounds awful OP. Fortunately it is summer were I am and I'm about to go for a walk at 8.30 pm as it is too hot inside. However, thank goodness, it never starts getting dark at 4 pm here even in the depths of winter, that would drive me silly!

The kids have just left for school and it is pitch dark still. I don't think I've sent them off when it has been so dark. Obviously going to be a horrible grey day.

Thanks I will look into it. I really do sympathise with @asblindasabat. Every winter I just get so tired for no reason.

Counting the days down until March (honestly cannot wait).

Every February is when I notice light flooding the room (my house is darker because of neighbours trees) and this is going to sound bonkers but I was so happy and positioned myself so that my face was being shone on and i felt so happy. I think I really love sunshine.

I did enjoy the crisp, cold sunny days we had in mid December. Though it was a bit too cold. Especially for my heating bill. These rainy, windy, dull days are not helping.

Looking ahead on the forecast and I can’t see any sunshine. I hope it changes.

Anyway today was the darkest morning so that’s over and done with.
