Would you freeze this?

Bolognaise made 3 days ago, kept in fridge and reheated for lunch today. There's enough left for me and DC.

Is it safe to freeze?

yes - YANBU to freeze it
no - YABU, it's been a second time, throw it.

No I wouldn't freeze now.
We made a lasagne out of frozen bolognese and wouldn't have refrozen this.

@bloodywhitecat to be honest you shouldnt reheat more than once, but as long as you are reheating so it is piping hot throughout you should be destroying any bacteria.

My general rule of thumb is portion and freeze after 3 days (in the fridge) but although I know the risks I'm happy reheating once or maybe twice after something has been cooked. Piping hot throughout, mind!!

yes, it will be fine, as long as you cooled it promptly, and reheat properly when you next have it.

If it was fully heated through, it should be fine, if it was just warmed up it might be a bit dodgy to keep any longer. Freezing kills a lot of potential bugs as well.

I read that a lot of food is safe if it’s heated to a simmering state or equivalent for 20 mins.

So I’d freeze but make sure I reheated it this way, rather than just a couple of mins in a microwave.

Im much more careful around fish though.

Personally I wouldn’t cause it’s been heated twice now. What I would have done is only have heated what I needed today and frozen the rest straight from the fridge.
