Same here. Also perimenopausal. It has been like it for days. I have to be up on 2 hours for work.

My face looks awful, bloodshot eyes and grey circles with tiredness. I can’t reset my body clock at all. I’ve tried having a drink, so screens, cool, dark room, all the sleep hygiene stuff, but it just doesn’t make a jot of difference.

Sympathy to all other wide awakers

Guavafish1 · 03/01/2023 05:00

Same

GoofyIsACow · 03/01/2023 05:01

Same here, i should get up but i can’t be bothered!

Tomatobear · 03/01/2023 05:09

Same. Toddler woke at 1.30am and quickly went back to sleep after a cuddle, but I'm still wide awake 3 hours later. Pain in the bum!

Sleepyquest · 03/01/2023 05:16

Same! It's the back to work dread I think

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/01/2023 05:19

Hi My People. I have left DH snoring in bed. Sometimes I sleep very lightly, and his snoring like a pig stops me sleeping. My Calm app helps a lot, but won't work with the snoring at the moment I fear. I have googled stuff about journal, what a la carte actually means (I was right DH, can't wait to tell you in the more sociable hours of morning). Also, the best way to freeze rum butter, and having a good ole look at stuff I don't need in the sales!

FWIW I normally have trouble sleeping at this time of year. I think I do a lot of revaluating of the previous year, which has been really stressful this time with a diagnosis of brain damage I really wasn't expecting. And though I love Christmas, I get all obsessed with perfection, which naturally never happens. Need to get some more excercise I think.

Comiserations to anyone who is up at stupid o clock. It stinks.

Tittyhill · 03/01/2023 05:24

Same here. Also perimenopausal. Husband who snores awfully. The anxiety I am experiencing at night recently is really taking its toll. Thinking about ringing my Gp to ask about medication.

Me too. Can partly blame the baby who's been very unsettled tonight but I can't even get back to sleep when she does, my brain is just wired by that point

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/01/2023 05:32

@saggychebs are you quite well? You seem to have come on here just to be 'unhelpful'. And actually, as you can't actually see us, you have no idea whether we are obese or not, do you. I don't think you've thought this through properly. Maybe put the wine down, or something. Hmm

I hear you all.

The other night I gave in to the wakefulness and just stayed up all night. Reading, bit of mild cleaning, internet etc. Big mistake.

By 10am I was a shaking mess and had to power through til night time with a bouncy 6 y/o to deal with. Figured oh well, at least I'll sleep tonight.

Yeah, no. I forgot about how overtiredness fractures your brain. Sigh.

Will get more melatonin.

This was me , I was waking up between 3 and 4 and was awake for hours then falling into a deep sleep at 6 which was no use . Then my friend recommended magnesium glycinate it's made a massive difference - 2 tablets 20 minutes before bed. If I wake up it's 10 minutes to get back to sleep now .

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/01/2023 06:00

I think we need to ignore the spammer, who is doing its best to derail, which must be quite difficult from under its rock Grin

It's all a bit shit this not sleeping. Fortunately I don't have to be up for work, but sympathies for those who do

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/01/2023 06:01

@mycatsanutter the tablets sound interesting. Did you have to get them online, or would I get them at my local Holland & B?

NewYearNora · 03/01/2023 06:06

Tickly cough and over active brain here, plus I might need a poo. Actually it was DP who woke me up coughing but now he is back to sleep - while I'm thinking that's probably me done for the night.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants these are the ones. I got them off Amazon £13 . I had to do something when it got to the stage where I didn't want to go to bed one night so I stayed up til 1.30 and I still woke at 3

I cannot fucking sleep
