Cost of London Fireworks

Fabulous as they are to watch, I wonder how much those fireworks cost? People are struggling to heat their homes or buy enough food. It doesn’t really sit well with me this year.

Yeah, because there's no winter markets, Ice rinks, clubs, pubs, bars, restaurants. Nothing really on in London for NYE if there's no fireworks...

You'd find those in other cities and towns. Huge firework display over the Thames? Not so much.

The display was spectacular as it should be. Those images would have been broadcast around the world great advertising for London.

Or would the OP have preferred the PM wave a single sparkler on the steps of number 10 at midnight 🙄

Ha ha, I’m going to have that vision in my head all year now! Hope he’s waving it slowly and sadly!!

I work for a crisis charity and still thought the fireworks were wonderful without thinking how the money should be used elsewhere…

I doubt a lot of people from around the UK would travel to the capital on NYE for a pub or an ice rink considering the vast cost to travel/stay there. The fireworks will be a huge draw for them on NYE. I would travel to London for sightseeing but not in the cold/rain and certainly not on NYE unless I was seeing the fabulous fireworks!

It was a passing comment & I didn’t really think it through so I hereby withdraw it whilst defending myself - I am fun loving & fully intend to keep my username! Happy New Year ! 🎉🎈🥂🍾

2022–23
On 14 October 2022, Mayor Khan announced that the New Year's Eve fireworks will return to being a public event at the London Eye in three years, promoting plans for them to be "the best ever". He hinted that the display would feature "three massive surprises"

The theme for the display was "With Love from London" and featured drones at Horse Guards Parade for the countdown and sections of the display.

The display featured moments from England's Women's Euro 2022 victory, London standing with Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion the country, celebrating 50 years of Pride in London and commemorated Queen Elizabeth II who died in 2022 and the Coronation of King Charles III in 2023.

Unless you're a London council tax payer, don't worry about the cost.

Just thank those that live within a London Borough.

And if you, like me, pay for the fireworks that the whole of the UK benefits from, yeah, pretty pricey.

The whole of the UK benefit from??

Eh?

There's 100.000 people paying £15 for a ticket to watch the fireworks

My friend looked into going. It was £100 each!!

What? Tickets were £15 each. We bought them via the website and attended last night. Absolutely brilliant I might add!
