The ready to eat type - would you still eat it?
Just found it in the fridge.

I ate some that was best before 24/12 on Christmas Day and I haven’t felt 100% since! It was unopened and I ate it before midday on 25/12. So no I wouldn’t touch yours!

Yes if it wasn't previously opened and didn't smell bad

No if it's been sitting open in the fridge or if it smells too fishy.

Smoked salmon is preserved first by brining in a salt solution, then smoking, so if it is sealed, will last well beyond the 'best by'date.

I would still eat it.

I would def eat it if it smelled OK. It's preserved and sealed so unlikely to have gone off.
I am, however, the woman who ate a 9 months-out-date yoghurt (sealed) with no ill effects so my tolerance is high and standards are low.
