Game changer morning routine

Since covid I’ve been working from home and have become really lazy. I get up and sit around in my pjs til mid/ late morning then shower and it basically takes me til lunchtime to get dressed. This is on work days and non work days. During the cold weather a few weeks ago I started showering in the evening. Such a game changer I now do this every day. Getting dressed as soon as I wake up has been a revelation. I can walk the dog or pop to shops as early as I like now. It must seem so obvious to many of you but on work days and days off I realise I have been wasting the entire morning for years. Yesterday I’d been to the shops, walked the dog and made bread by 10am. In my pjs I would’ve still been sitting in front of the tv drinking coffee procrastinating over showering. I’ve now moved my hair straighteners downstairs too so have hair and make up stuff in utility room which again has really helped my get ready to face the day earlier. Any other tips like this?

When working from home started I did not expect it to be still here (bar one day a week), thought it would be a few weeks at most. I decided to always be dressed as if leaving the house, to keep a good habit. A lesson in a way from a period of when unemployed many years ago.

Glad to read you have made the change you have, and enjoy the walks with your dog.

I’m not back to work for a couple of weeks and I’m sitting in my PJ’s at 2pm!

Getting a super healthy smoothie mixture out of freezer before I go to bed so all I have to do is blend it next morning means I have had something great to eat that day no matter what.

I don't even do that! On Saturdays or Sundays I make up enough smoothie for the week., store it in those soup mugs with the clips on the side and just pull one out every morning. It doesn't go off at all and lasts fine for the week.

Ingredients are berries, spinach, walnuts, oats, flaxseed and vanilla protein powder and water. I've perfected it now to my taste and I'm satisfied until lunchtime.

I vary as to whether I shower night or morning. Depends on the level of bedroom action lol.

I always shower at night, can't face it in the morning!
Wash my hair separately though and that's at night too as it takes a good hour to diffuse dry
Plus the deodorant I use is apply at night so it makes sense to shower before it

What changed for me was getting in the shower every morning before doing anything else! I coffee no news no radio and no procrastinating!

I also one who needs a shower to function and have hair that requires taming. But I'd feel from if I realised on an eve if shower.

I think it's great when we stumble upon simple solutions to problems, absolutely that is a game changer @Bellavida99 ! I sometimes do this since the pandemic if I've showered the night before and am wfh. I never would have been so flexible before the pandemic, I was stuck in a very narrow notion of what I needed to do to be acceptable.

Evening showerer here too OPand it's life changing. I blast my hair with the hairdryer and then straighten it in the morning.

I also prep everything the night before: clothes/underwear jewellery, coffee.

Get a smoothie ready to be blended too. Lunch and snacks all ready to go into my bag plus laptop, diary etc etc.

I leave the house at 7 am many days so can't afford to waste a minute. On my WFH days I do the same prep though. Wouldn't feel ready or professional without it:

If I run in the morning this does set me back a bit but the other prep really helps.
