When are you going to stop the Christmas eating?

Just some idle chat.

for the last week I have been eating whatever I want whenever I want. Unlimited pigs in blankets, chocolate, brandy cream spooned straight from the tub, slice upon a slice of Christmas cake. I finished the Baileys, or I’d be on that too.

I can’t remember when I last felt hungry.

Most of the year I’m pretty careful about what I eat. I’m in my early 50s and if I were to binge like this all the time I’d be absolutely fucking massive. As it is I’m generally a pretty healthy size 12. However at Christmas for a week or so I just eat whatever the hell I want, and generally loose the extra weight pretty easily... but right now I’m feeling slightly panicked sense of when will it stop?!

So how about you, are you pigging out too? When will you stop? Do you have a definite cut-off point?

I need to get to the point where I’ve indulged myself to the point I am starting to repulse myself 😂 I’m nowhere near this goal yet so it’s chocolate for breakfast for the foreseeable.
Im back at work tomorrow but I have a stash of crap there too. I just accept that this is what happens to me in December and I may as well enjoy it

January me is a capable confident person who always rolls their eyes and tidies up the mess December me made. I trust her.

otherwayup · 27/12/2022 22:30

I'm already back on the straight and narrow but I wish I wasn't!
We still have a houseful of lovely food but I'm massively controlling about my weight/food and only gave myself a couple of days 'off'

mamaduckbone · 27/12/2022 22:32

I'm back at work on Jan 3rd, so then. Or when all the Christmas food is gone - whichever comes first.

Apart from the tub of chocolates on the table and some posh cheeses and trifle pots in the fridge, we don't really have any Christmassy food left.

I've got another Morrisons delivery on Friday though, so we'll have some more nice snacks for NYE.

pictoosh · 27/12/2022 22:39

Tomorrow. I deliberately didn't buy tons of food. Our stash is greatly depleted now. I've had about 5 days of gluttony. I've thoroughly enjoyed it but I feel enough's enough now. Will be out for a long run and back on a healthy diet in the morning getting rid of what I have undoubtedly put on.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/12/2022 21:59

I've barely begun.
We have just come back from the PiL and the dullest, most joyless 3 or 4 days I have ever spent anywhere, with the most minimal Christmas dinner, and no extras - no chocolates, no crackers, not cheese, nothing

Got home late yesterday to discover we'd had a power cut and have had to throw
away a loaf of food I was looking forward to.

I will be going shopping tomorrow and won't be holding back!!

No chocolates?! Shock
If I have people over I am "there's the fridge, kettle, help yourselves to whatever you want"
Would be mortified if there was no chocolate on a normal day!

Butteredtoast55 · 27/12/2022 22:42

I've been pretty careful and enjoyed all things in moderation until today when I'm in a hideous trifle coma and feel sick. So tomorrow is back to sensible behaviour!

Krakenwakes · 27/12/2022 22:47

We don’t have any leftovers. It was all eaten on Christmas Day, more or less. I’m going to make some more mince pies tomorrow, though.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/12/2022 04:32

@Pelo22

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/12/2022 04:36

@Pelo22 - my in laws are very modest people (very comfortably well off, it's not a financial thing). Food is fuel to MiL. It doesn't need to be fun, or celebratory or excessive. It needs to be stodgy and stop you feeling hungry, and is served at 8 am, 1pm and 7pm only.

Daydreamer22 · 28/12/2022 04:43

I’ve had two days off. Have had bacon butties and then a meal. Yesterday tea was turkey butties and cheese/crackers. Ate more chocolate than I would but we really don’t buy too much extra.

Back to work today. So meals prepped and back to normal. Off new year and will probably indulge a limitless again That’s probably the only bonus of working through Christmas. You don’t get into that habit! Of Christmas eating and drinking fully!

caringcarer · 28/12/2022 05:06

Starting a diet Feb 1st. Too much Xmas stuff to finish in January.

bluetongue · 28/12/2022 05:47

I really only went all out with eating for Christmas Day. Still lost more weight since then too (just hit healthy BMI and don’t want to go back to overweight).

Back at work so no longer in ‘holiday mode’.

Having said that I’ve got a trip to Italy in February. One if the weeks is half board at a ski resort with 3 course meals plus salad buffet. No doubt my current sieg will go out the window then.

Winterpetal · 28/12/2022 06:23

Do u mean how instead of when .
worse part of Christmas for me is all the extra food

Winterpetal · 28/12/2022 06:26

Todaynotalways · 27/12/2022 20:17

Tomorrow we have an ocado order of healthy food due at 8am, and a meal plan for 1200 - 1500 calories (each) per day for the next week.

That's my losing weight calorie intake. I eat 1800 to maintain. And I must've been nearing 3000 over the Christmas period.

This is interesting
whats in your meal plan

Draconis · 28/12/2022 07:57

Today for me too. We have a selection of cheeses still left so I may incorporate that into my diet but not much more Christmas food is around.
The teenagers have been good at consuming it all so I don't have to. So thoughtful of them.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 28/12/2022 08:20

Today for me. I have a tight dress to get into on NYE and don’t want to look like a sparkly sausage!

EspeciallyD · 28/12/2022 08:41

Winding it down, we gave all the leftovers to my parents so its just crackers and cheese, cake and a few chocolates etc left now. We didn't overbuy as much as in the past. I have drunk very little alcohol deliberately and kept off the caffeine but still not sleeping as well as I usually do.

SavouryFlavour · 28/12/2022 08:44

I deliberately didn't go to the shops on the 27th to do my usual sweep of discounted Yule logs, chocolate coins, etc. If it's not in the fridge I can't eat it.

BCBird · 28/12/2022 08:49

When I am back to work in 3rd. I got two boxes of gluten free mince pies at home left. Goin yo.hive them away, far too sweet. Could feel.my teeth dissolving🙈been eating crap well over a year, lots of sh*t going on. Going to control the one thing I.csn control.in January and that's food consumption. The crap will still be about but I haven't got to eat it too😫

ClemDanFango · 28/12/2022 08:51

Stopping would prevent reaching my goal of being fat and sassy.

AlisonDonut · 28/12/2022 08:53

We don't celebrate Christmas so we just bought one treat pudding which lasted 3 days and was finished last night. I get ill if I have too much food, my OH bought me a bar of chocolate for my birthday and I still haven't eaten it. So the answer is yesterday.

HelenHywater · 28/12/2022 08:53

I think I need to start being a bit more moderate, but won't be back into my healthy eating routine until I'm back at work next week.

My yoga studio is back open tomorrow and I'm looking forward to that.

Vinorosso74 · 28/12/2022 09:02

Once all the Christmas food is gone. We did have a healthy dinner last night then followed it with cheese and biscuits then chocolate watching TV.
Got ILs over tomorrow and doing a buffet. Not sure we'll need all the food we have. Some things eg. cold meats can be used for lunches.

workworkworkugh · 28/12/2022 09:05

Tomorrow!

I feel so sick today from all the food I've eaten over the last few days and have just vowed to myself to stock the fridge with lots of fresh foods tomorrow.

I was sick with the flu leading up to Xmas so lost my appetite and then just went nuts from Xmas day to now.
I'm usually quite a healthy eater so all this meat and cheese and dips is literally making my stomach look 5 months pregnant (and I'm only 4'11 so very noticeable!)
