I have been researching holidays for the coming year to make myself feel better

DysonSpheres · 27/12/2022 17:06

Not Christmas specifically, but if I had my way, I would declare January and February hibernation season (let's call it Hiberfest). Everyone chills out, no major work until March. September, October, November, early December spent acquiring and getting supplies in for Christmas and Hiberfest.

VickerishAllsort · 27/12/2022 17:06

I love Christmas Day but hate the build-up. All that fretting over presents, fighting the crowds in the few remaining shops, queuing for hours in the supermarket then forgetting the cranberry sauce .....
This betwixt period is so chilled though - I love it.
This year we ate out, so sadly no leftover turkey sandwiches and reheated Xmas pud and brandy sauce, which are the best bits usually.
Back to hosting next year, when I'll probably say "Never again!"

ppure · 27/12/2022 17:09

Yea I just cried when my family left, even though I will see them again in 3 months

olivehater · 27/12/2022 17:09

Christmas Day is my least favourite day. Prefer the build up the week before. Little get together with friends, days out. Getting excited on Christmas Eve and putting the mince pjs out for Santa etc. Christmas Day is a big stress. Like the present opening with the kids but not the rest. Love chilling and maybe going for a walk/ play with new toys/bikes etc on Boxing Day.

Not at all, roll on Summer

Oh goody. Can’t wait for heatwaves, endless hot and humid days, everyone outside All The Time, endless noise. 🥵 I live in the SE.

I am so happy now, and sad that Winter Solstice has already passed. I love Christmas and was thrilled to have snow this year. I’m hoping for wild and windy weather and for the dark nights to last as long as possible and to have a proper spring rather than slide straight into bloody summer starting from April to almost November.

We’ve had a great Christmas and it will continue into New Years Day. No way am I short-changing myself!

thelengthspeoplegoto · 27/12/2022 17:12

I enjoy Christmas but not sad it's over. Have started a big clear out I've been looking forward to.

cushioncovers · 27/12/2022 17:13

Nope I'm glad it's over. Back to work tomorrow. Roll on spring time.

Agreed loathe January but have supplies in the freezer from Christmas so treats in January.

It's not over to me, until I take the tree down in early January. Just about to start my second round of celebrating! I love it, and consider it a season (it's basically the whole of December for me) not just one day! Watched two Christmas films today 🎄☃️

You are my people!

DorritLittle · 27/12/2022 17:17

Enjoyed Christmas but I am totally relieved that all the pressure, present buying and family drama is over for another year. Easter is so much simpler.

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 27/12/2022 17:20

What Christmas?!! DH and I were both felled by this bug so Christmas was cancelled. There’s a bag of unopenedpresents for each other and for family sitting in the dining room. It’s going to be odd handing them over in January in Christmas wrapping paper

IntentionalError · 27/12/2022 17:22

Absolutely not.

Christmas is probably my least favourite time of year, I’m glad it’s over and I will be delighted to get back to work tomorrow morning.

For all those who are sad that it’s all over for another year, don’t despair. Only 7 months to go until the tubs of Quality Street reappear in the supermarkets. 😡

Sorry what?? You dislike spring??? What's not to like?

Mmm, I can't imagine not liking spring. Autumn is my favourite season, but spring is wonderful - the light, bulbs peeping through, the promise of summer round the corner...

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 27/12/2022 17:31

Yes, I'm always sad. It comes and goes so quickly.

Stangerthings · 27/12/2022 17:34

I am glad to see the back of it Decorations coming down on Sunday too.

HelloDaisy · 27/12/2022 17:34

I’ve been in bed with covid since 23rd so feel as though it hasn’t really started yet. Hopefully I’ll be better by tomorrow so we can celebrate then. Dc had all their presents but we haven’t done anything together at all as yet.

crispsandnuts · 27/12/2022 17:35

Delighted....roll on holidays

mrsbyers · 27/12/2022 17:36

Not for us , we’re holed up in a lovely cottage on the N Yorks coast , 10th anniversary tomorrow and all of family going out for a nice meal then a couple of days of nice walks and food before heading home NYE

Notsa · 27/12/2022 17:38

I'm gutted I'm back to work tomorrow after a lovely four days off 😭

Vintagevixen · 27/12/2022 17:41

Love Christmas but since my divorce I'm less sentimental about it.

Also, I'm REALLY looking forward to January - it's my favourite month of the year. I find it so quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Love the dark evenings and the winter weather. So I'm feeling pretty relaxed and okay at the moment.

cobblers123 · 27/12/2022 17:50

No

OriginalUsername2 · 27/12/2022 17:52

It’s not over until new year for us. Just been out to top up the cheese.

walkinthewoodstoday · 27/12/2022 17:53

I'm so low. We travel and stay with my parents and I'm fighting back crying on the long drive home. I miss them so much

Baldieheid · 27/12/2022 17:53

Nope. But then I'm a miserable git.
