But it’s not over

We are doing Christmas Day again today because we have had a another load of relatives arrive.

RudeElfTheRainDear · 27/12/2022 15:03

Christmas isn't really over until the last Quality Street is eaten in the New Year. However, when it is I am a little sad but mostly looking forward to spring and the new gardening year. Roll on the first flowers!

WhatIsThisPlease · 27/12/2022 15:05

Yes I am. I love Christmas.

GoingOnce · 27/12/2022 15:06

It’s not over OP. 12 days of Christmas - we’re only on three French hens!

ShakeYourFeathers · 27/12/2022 15:06

Not really! It's not been the best Christmas and certainly not one for the ages for us sooo

RewildingAmbridge · 27/12/2022 15:07

It's still Christmas until Tuesday as far as I'm concerned!

Yes and winter will drag on for another 3 months at least. Hate the almost constant rain, wind and cold and few like I’ve nothing to look forward to 🙁

This really. It’s a long slog til spring although I quite like from March onwards.

Always4Brenner · 27/12/2022 15:10

Still got my decorations up but looking forward to spring now.

dudsville · 27/12/2022 15:11

I'm not sad as such, but I was preoccupied for much of December and feel I came too late to the party, so it's been good, but short. Now we get to hunker down for the worst of the winter in prep for spring, and this is its own special time!

TeenDivided · 27/12/2022 15:14

No, because Christmas isn't over here until around 2nd January or so.

SwedishEdith · 27/12/2022 15:15

This is the best bit - just eating, slobbing around watching films, maybe going for a walk and the pub. I really dislike spring so don't look forward to that at all.

red4321 · 27/12/2022 15:15

Normally I'd be gutted. But we were burgled on the 22nd (they took nearly all our presents and my jewellery) and I've just discovered I have covid.

So, for once, I'll be pleased to draw a line on Christmas 2022!

RupertBearsScarf · 27/12/2022 15:16

I'm glad to see the back of it. We've all been ill, there was so much effort put in but no-one could make the most of it. The older I get, the more disillusioned I feel about all the excesses of Christmas. Roll on spring.

Although I am enjoying the snow!

Swallowsflyround · 27/12/2022 15:16

So much hype on one day. I sign up to the festive season which last till I go back to work in January! I'm only getting started.

CharityShopChic · 27/12/2022 15:16

Absolutely delighted that the annual 3 month tat and consumer fest has now finished. It's not "another whole year" until it all comes round again, September you'll be seeing Christmas tat in the shops again.

frozendaisy · 27/12/2022 15:16

It's not over for us.

Kids have games we haven't played, still all hanging at home with Christmas TV, tree and fairy lights still looking pretty but we only got our tree last week so are not bored with it yet.

The three wise men didn't turn up until 12th day!

If it's over for some then I am presuming you all had a great lead up and did most of Christmas before the 25th.

But for us it's still a similar, in fact more chilled and enjoyable this side of Christmas.

Pickledghosts · 27/12/2022 15:17

It's far from over for us! The kids and I didn't finish until 23rd (Wales) so we've still got another 2 weeks off.

Originally I was sad they didn't have more time off in the run up to Christmas. But now I'm glad because it means we have time off without the pressure of 'having' to do things.

ilovesooty · 27/12/2022 15:19

Delighted it's over. Not working this week and only doing limited work until 9th January. Can't wait for all the crappy Christmas tat to disappear and looking forward to to summer

DappledThings · 27/12/2022 15:20

Nope. Because it isn't over. This is the 3rd of the 12 days.

Mistletow · 27/12/2022 15:24

Yes I'm really sad. Our Xmas didn't turn out as I we had hoped. Sickness came Xmas morning. Had such high hopes.

upinaballoon · 27/12/2022 15:25

Christmas begins on 25th December and continues until Candlemas, which is 2nd February. It isn't over.

Today did feel a bit flat, though.

However, there are crusty rolls to be baked in the oven, Sunday's food to be thought about, Louis Armstrong and Barbra Streisand banging out 'Hello Dolly' on the TV, a new book to read, lots of lovely old DVDs to rewatch, and the days are getting longer.

NegroniLover · 27/12/2022 15:25

It's not over for us at all yet! I'm.now v glad that Christmas day was 'frontloaded' this year with the way our holidays fell & the majority of our hosting is done & we don't go back to work / school till the 9th so loads of time to just rest & relax
We're about to have Christmas Dinner part 2 soon using lots of leftovers as we only had turkey sandwiched yesterday we were so exhausted having hosted 15 on Christmas day

TimBoothseyes · 27/12/2022 15:33

Our "Christmas" will be on January 2nd when I see DD for the first time since May (distance and clashing work schedules).

Monica2507 · 27/12/2022 15:33

Yes. I've been ill all Xmas so not done much or eaten any of the nice food. Not even seen my family because I didn't want to pass it on to anyone. Already planning next Christmas in my head and thinking about all the food I'm going to eat to make up for this rubbish one!
