Anyone else doing it?

I've not started yet, but usually get stuck in on Boxing Day, and will need moral support (and clues).

I nibbled away at it yesterday. I know the themes to several sections if anyone wants that as a first clue later on.

MumofHorace · 26/12/2022 13:19

I got 10 on the first run through without looking, more than my usual average - first time being Bible-bashed as a child has come in useful…

I know it’s online but is it in the physical Guardian today? I’ll go and buy it if so! I was looking for it before Christmad

And I love that I have a typo in a thread about the Grauniad

My problem with the Bible round is that I got the same answer for two different questions. I know one was correct, but do I need to go and have a think (and google) about the other one?

DifferentYearSameShit · 26/12/2022 13:53

Not multiple choice I've no chance but I did answer 3 yes 3 questions correctly on University Challenge at Xmas with some woman who used to be in Emmerdale. I know I'm so proud

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 26/12/2022 13:58

My biblical knowledge is thin, but childhood indoctrination in Edwardian light entertainment is paying off. Not doing badly in monarchs, either.

And is there a Womble?

On second thoughts, strike that. Pretty sure wombles were buttercup sauce.

I remember finding that highly irresponsible in a children's book.

Yes you do. I can see how the confusion might arise - but the letter writer gave more specific advice on marriage at another point.

Once you’ve found the correct letter and read through it you may want to read a bit of Germaine Greer for balance.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 26/12/2022 14:09

Ah, you mean the bit that's horribly embarrassing if it happens to be your week to read in church? 'No, you really really don't have to be . . . !'

MumofHorace · 26/12/2022 14:22

@DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry

😂

it could be worse, you could be a man having to read one of those psalms or OT prophet chapters that go on and on about bountiful, suckling breasts…

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 26/12/2022 14:34

Most of the men round here are a generation if that away from dairy farming, they'd be unfazed.

I was wondering if "The Goblin's" home port is the one from Swallows and Amazon series or whether there's a more obvious boat.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 26/12/2022 14:55

I went with the S&A Goblin and saw a theme develop for that section.
