So what did you think of the King’s first Christmas speech?

I felt it was very nice and quite touching. The location he chose to record it at was very fitting and it is lovely he paid tribute to his late mother, our lovely late Queen.

The viewing figures were up on the Queen's speech last year - 10.7 million for Charles, 8.96 for Queen Elizabeth last year.

So the vast majority, 50 million, didn't watch it.

It was the most-watched programme yesterday, all the same:

  1. The King (BBC, Sky, ITV and GB News) 10.72m
  2. Strictly Come Dancing (BBC One) 5.44m
  3. Michael McIntyre's Xmas Wheel (BBC One) 4.81m
  4. Call The Midwife (BBC One) 4.49m
  5. Aladdin (BBC One) 4.39m
  6. Ghosts (BBC One) 3.92m
  7. Doc Martin (ITV1) 3.26m
  8. EastEnders (BBC One) 3.17m
  9. Coronation Street (ITV1) 2.85m
  10. Ant and Dec's Limitless Win (ITV1) 2.69m

To add, I think the Christmas telly has been poor so far this year so he didn't have great competition.

We ended up watching 'The Great Escape' on C4 in the afternoon, listening to the radio for a couple of hours and putting a DVD on to fill the late night slot before bedtime.

We watched it on catch up after we had finished our dinner. Age range 15-91 - we all thought he struck the right tone, liked the choice of location and the analogies he used about faith and the light. Liked te montages too.

Nothing special to remember other than it being his first. Glad that he mentioned other faiths though.

I'm Irish, in Ireland and just accidentally saw the King's address because it came on after the ballet.
I had never seen the Queens speech.
Anyway. I liked it. I liked how he spoke about his visit to Bethlehem. He obviously has a string Christian faith and love of Jesus Christ. I can relate to that as I'm Christian too.
I liked his dig at the government by honouring everyone who's on strike.
I also enjoyed the carols and the little video clips of other members of the royal family out doing their good works.
Andrew and Harry we're conspicuous by their absence.
But his tie and pocket square didn't match . Where was his stylist.

Unfortunately, right before taping he had a pen mishap and used it to wipe his hands.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
oh, how I amuse myself.

If you don't want wide ranging comments then keep these threads to the Royal Family board!

You told her! I think your use of the exclamation point really drove your point. It's not often people post a right telling off. Well done. Well done! 👏

Then may I respectfully suggest that next time you see a thread title that obviously holds no interest to you whatsoever that you immediately scroll on to the next one rather than click on it.

This with bells on!!!
