How long does this flu-like virus last?

I'm reaching the end of day 4. The headache and muscle pain has gone but the nausea and bone crushing tiredness haven't let up at all.

I know it's doing the rounds everywhere. How long was it until you felt normal again?

I’m day 5. Last night was the worst night, terrible night sweats and shivers. The bed was drenched and my hair was damp

Felt a little brighter today but now back to aching, sore throat and feeling dreadful. It seems to have a pattern of getting far worse at night.

Day 7 here no signs of abating

wheresmyshoe · 24/12/2022 20:46

Day 4, fever, sweats, chills, aches, awful cough and sleeping a lot.
We've postponed Christmas and I'm going to attempt a banana for lunch tomorrow, DH is on day 7 and will give a slice of pork pie a go.
I wake up in the morning drenched in sweat, wet hair and pyjamas. Horrible virus, going to the bathroom feels like an expedition.

@wheresmyshoe I have never experienced night sweats like it - and I’m menopausal so more than used to night sweats.

it’s actually pretty scary, in that you can feel just how infected your body is when it’s so shivery. My fingers though are like ice

wheresmyshoe · 24/12/2022 21:10

It's awful isn't it @checkedcloth my bed linen was drenched too. Staggering to the bathroom and being aware I was cold because I was actually in wet pyjamas was grim. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm 2 weeks in, too 2 days off work, felt under the weather since then.
I think my DD got it from nursery, my symptoms started 2 days later and DP's starred 2 days after that

7 weeks here. Still no bloody appetite. I was so looking forward to a good Christmas binge 😐

BiasedBinding · 24/12/2022 21:21

Which flu-like virus?

BiasedBinding · 24/12/2022 21:22

I mean, there are loads. Who knows which one you have and how it will play out. My mum had actual flu (confirmed via swab) last week and is now more or less better but very tired so needing plenty of rest. I hope you are better soon.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 24/12/2022 21:23

Fever broke after 4 days and I started to feel better after 8 days.

I needed a week off work but felt tired for another couple of weeks.

H1Drangea · 24/12/2022 21:32

I felt better after 5 days , but the the sting in the tail kicked in , and was much worse
day 15 now , still have a terrible cough that wakes me at night , and need to have a rest / sleep in the afternoon

MulledWineAndMingePies · 24/12/2022 21:39

Yes the night sweats were mad! I was shivering and boiling and sweating and cold all at the same time changing by the second.

DC3 woke up sweating earlier on so he's in the thick of it as well.

I've been ill on and off for a month now. I keep getting a few days of feeling basically back to normal, just tired, then back down with it again. It's very very annoying
