Heading out for the annual Xmas shop later so am open to suggestions 😁

Mine are:

Cheeseboard (I buy cheddar and occasional brie during the year, but only splash out on the selection with blue cheeses at Xmas)

Red onion chutney (to go with above cheese and leftover sandwiches)

Posh cracker selection

Cream

Croissants

Chocolate chip brioche

The usual boxes of Celebrations and Roses and crisps and Xmas cake

Pate.

I've been staring at it in the fridge. I'm not sure I can wait til Sunday.

I'm so happy I've bought too much food so we are duty bound to get cracking to save waste.

Every year I buy the cream cheese with pineapple that is rolled in almonds, because we used to have it as a child. Every year it is left uneaten because nobody seems to like it, but I still feel the need to get it just in case. Ditto the smoked cheese in a sausage shape.

The only things unique to Christmas for us are a large steak pie from the local independent butcher, tins of all butter shortbread (I think my homemade shortbread is better, but DH is partial to the M&S version), and I usually get a couple of bottles of interesting-sounding liqueurs. I don't like lebkuchen, stollen, pannetone and all that sort of stuff. We have interesting cheeses and as much chocolate as we want all year round. And Christmas pudding, because I buy a selection when it's reduced in price after Christmas.

This year we cannot get enough panettone. Previous years we'd always been overwhelmed with the stuff, then last year we didn't buy any and we weren't given any. We were bereft! All the shops sold out, online prices were outrageous. This year I've bought 4. Two fruit and 2 chocolate. There are only 2 of us, and one couple coming to dinner.

I have loads of this - how do you eat it?

Brandy snaps
Pigs in blankets
Box of biscuits
Tub of chocolates
