Heading out for the annual Xmas shop later so am open to suggestions 😁

Mine are:

Cheeseboard (I buy cheddar and occasional brie during the year, but only splash out on the selection with blue cheeses at Xmas)

Red onion chutney (to go with above cheese and leftover sandwiches)

Posh cracker selection

Cream

Croissants

Chocolate chip brioche

The usual boxes of Celebrations and Roses and crisps and Xmas cake

Cheese, especially blue and soft fancy crackers and nice chutney. Hot beetroot chutney and Brie is the food of the gods.

Shodan · 21/12/2022 21:41

Treeslets 😁

Also, ( and please look away, proper panettone lovers)- panettone in a tin from Wilko. I buy it primarily for the tin, but have found I love it toasted for breakfast.

Chocolate truffles. And I've just introduced ds2 to the delights of a Ferrero Rocher.

Lots of cheese. All the cheese. And 'interesting' chutneys as well as the usual onion one.

I'm going on one helluva diet come January...

edwinbear · 21/12/2022 21:42

I’m collecting 11 different cheeses from the cheese shop tomorrow morning. To add to the 3 I’ve already bought from the supermarket. I have a cheese advent calendar as well. Plus oodles of smoked salmon and real champagne. It’s Prosecco the rest of the year.

devildeepbluesea · 21/12/2022 22:18

Special cheese. I’ve regularly got cheddar, Camembert and at least one blue in. At Christmas the big guns come out: Epoisses, stinking bishop, old Amsterdam, Perl Las, Perl Wen, Comte and at least 3 I’ve never had before.

gogohmm · 21/12/2022 22:19

Mince pies, stollen though we do buy it from October onwards. We eat well normally but buy more in at once for Christmas and new year

Blondlashes · 21/12/2022 22:21

Apart from the last line all of these are staples for me throughout the whole year! Especially good cheeses and crackers. I can’t believe you only get these at Christmas!

Overthebow · 21/12/2022 23:10

For me it’s

pigs in blankets
tins of roses
mulled wine
Big side of salmon for serving instead of individual portions
turkey
the smoked salmon parcels you get in M&S

SavouryFlavour · 21/12/2022 23:13

Ah, rum butter. You've reminded me that I'm definitely making some this year to eat all by myself on crackers.

Also Yule log, aka festive Colin.

Cheese
Cheese
Cheese
Cheese

Am a bit cross because Lidl had some pont l'eveque in and now they seem to have sold out. Big piece of good cheddar, big piece of aged Gouda and smaller pieces of Roquefort and camembert because I'm the only one who eats them.
All the cheeseboard stuff - apricots, figs, walnuts, pears, crackers.
Mincemeat for pies
Sausage meat for sausage rolls

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/12/2022 23:35

An obscene amount of cheese. An equally obscene cracker fest, and various chutneys to go with said cheese and cracker fest. Oh, and chestnuts.

mamabear715 · 21/12/2022 23:40

I clicked on this thread expecting it to be all choc.. and it's cheese!
I've just this min been on Tesco, adding to my order on the 23rd. I was adding.. cheese.. ;-)

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 22/12/2022 00:22

@devildeepbluesea where do you draw these big guns from?

Deathraystare · 22/12/2022 08:35

Pickled walnuts! I can enjoy Christmas now!

3sthemagicnumber · 22/12/2022 08:45

Side of smoked salmon (arrived yesterday!)

Cheese - posh cheddar and 3/4 others

Crackers

Used to be posh charcuterie from deli, but we don't eat meat anymore

A couronne (sp??) from the local bakery. They only have them on Christmas eve, delicious wreath shaped bread with spices and dried fruit.

Make mince pies and homemade lemon curd pies for DS who doesn't eat raisins

I have been trying to establish a Christmas eve fish dinner tradition for years (ex Catholic in me), this year, inspired by masterchef, we have bought a turbot to try. DS is buzzing! Not sure if I hope we like it and it becomes a new tradition or not, it's quite expensive!

HuxleyPigsSuitcase · 22/12/2022 08:57

Fruit jellies
Turkish delight
Danish butter cookies in a big blue tin

devildeepbluesea · 22/12/2022 10:10

@ZeViteVitchofCwismas there is an amazing deli in Cardiff called Wally’s which has a great cheese selection. Also I have ordered from Pong Cheese previously, and when I lived in. Swansea there was an amazing guy in Swansea market who could get hold of anything I wanted.

ifonly4 · 22/12/2022 10:53

Pigs in blankets
Sausage and cheese and onion rolls
Stilton and Wensleydale with apricot
Dips
Couple of different pickles and pickled onions
Stuffing
Xmas cake and pudding
Mince pies
Brandy butter and brandy cream
Stolen (bought early and already eaten in place of usual biscuit/cake)
Turkey
DH gets something better than Tescos gravy (I hate the stuff)

OnlyTheBravest · 22/12/2022 11:08

Treeselets- 1 each as no one is sharing.

MokaEfti · 22/12/2022 11:10
