Heading out for the annual Xmas shop later so am open to suggestions 😁

Mine are:

Cheeseboard (I buy cheddar and occasional brie during the year, but only splash out on the selection with blue cheeses at Xmas)

Red onion chutney (to go with above cheese and leftover sandwiches)

Posh cracker selection

Cream

Croissants

Chocolate chip brioche

The usual boxes of Celebrations and Roses and crisps and Xmas cake

Stilton, but it's shot up in price/ been subjected to shrinkflation, so not bothering this year. 500g of Brie at 2.99 from Aldi fits the bill though, already eaten one of my two packs.

Passmepie · 22/12/2022 11:25

This definitely applies to a lot of you 😂

Baileys.
Xmas pudding.
cheeses (generally avoid as fattening!)
Stuffing

Shed loads of cheese

Big box of crisps

Due to everything being more expensive now I really cut back on the festive treats, but still wanted a few unusual items. One of which was lumpfish roe (cheap 'caviar') and there's bloody none left in my Tesco or my online Tesco stockist, I'm so disappointed! We look forward eating it (a bit on a slice of hard boiled egg on buttered water cracker) but only buy a small jar or two at Christmas/NY.

Our other items are: a bottle of Baileys, cheap Bucks Fizz, and Turkish delight from a local stall. Not too bothered about anything else!

Lansonmaid · 22/12/2022 17:47

Lots and lots of cheese!

Posh crackers for the cheese

Goose for Christmas dinner

Huge gammon joint - our traditional Boxing Day lunch is gammon, egg and lots of chips

Smoked salmon bites from Tesco

Vinylloving · 22/12/2022 17:49

Sherry, baileys, pate, special chutney, lebkuchen biscuits, after eights.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/12/2022 17:54

More cheese than at any other time of year

Garners pickled red cabbage (onions too, but I buy those at other times in the year as well)

Lebkuchen and stollen

Port

afaloren · 22/12/2022 17:55

Pigs in blankets
Posh Cheese
Bucks Fizz
Posh crackers
Nice fresh stuffing - use Paxo otherwise
Fresh gravy
Mince pies
Tubs of chocolate
Sprouts to have with cream and bacon

stbrandonsboat · 22/12/2022 17:57

Wotsits
Mince pies
Wensleydale and cranberry cheese

AbsoluteYawns · 22/12/2022 18:05

Ooooh I love threads like this, mine are:

'Baileys' (the M and S equivalent are currently £8 and delicious),
Baileys extra thick cream,
Cheeses and posh crackers,
Xmas Pud,
Costco Mince Pies - another level of deliciousness!
Full fat Jersey milk to make custard,
Sprouts (although they are quite horrible!)
Posh biscuit selection,
Huge pack of Goldstein's Smoked Salmon,
Ikea Swedish biscuits in the Xmas tin,
Beef Wellington Crisps.

Can someone please tell me what the best chutney is to go with Stilton? Thanks!

Peachypips78 · 22/12/2022 18:11

@AbsoluteYawns in my opinion Devon Fire chutney from otter vale. Or their onion and pineapple. They are a perfect foil for the saltiness!

Fanta and Bendicts Bittermints. Only allowed at Christmas or my her wise I’d be very fat and would have no teeth left.

user1964097 · 22/12/2022 19:53

Medjool dates
lots of chocolate
Madagascan vanilla custard
different cheeses

SaveMeCheezus · 22/12/2022 19:53

Pigs in blankets and mulled wine are probably the only things we only buy at Christmas.

I went to get our cheese today though. It's just 2 of us on Christmas Day so we skip the roast and go straight to the cheeseboard, so I went to the posh deli instead of the supermarket and spent an obscene amount on cheese for 2 people 🫢
