Most heatbreaking scenes on tv

What are the scenes that made you feel real emotion or even cry when they aired?

I’ll start with

Glee. When Karofsky feels suicide is his only option after being outed and Blaine is singing cough syrup as he gets himself dressed. The emotion Karofsky shows hits hard.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The spies goodbye. It always makes me well up no matter how many times I see it.

The 100. When Monty has left a message to Clarke talking about how he and Harper didn’t cryo themselves and instead lived a life and had a son.

Lucifer. The end episode. Says it all

Both of these really had me too!

Me too!

When ET almost died, when my my mentally ill and undiagnosed PND Mum took me and and my little sister to the cinema. One of of only two times she was well enough to take us. We saw Bambi in late 70's then ET in the early 80's.

The last episode of Mare of East Town. It was so grim and sad and really effected me for days.

The Futurama episode Jurassic Bark. When we learn that Fry's dog Seymour waited for Fry, after his disappearance, every single day for the next 12 years, until he died. While an oblivious Fry assumes he had a happy life. Can't even type that without tearing up. Can't even look at a picture. Kills me still.

My therapist told me about this...I've never seen it. I sort of want to but also know I'll never get over it.

The moment of realisation in the Inside No 9 episode The 12 Days of Christine.

I had to go in the kitchen and cry for that one. Still gets me now.

The bit in Suffragette where they take her children.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 21/12/2022 20:43

Has anyone mentioned The Split because James and then the ending broke me. When Nicola Walker goes to see Nathan's new partner....'You're the change' . Still haven't got over it.

TigerDroveAgain · 21/12/2022 20:52

the whole of its a sin

when Morse dies and Lewis kisses his forehead 😰

JaniceBattersby · 21/12/2022 20:54

Daphne’s death in Neighbours…

”I love you Clarky…” BEEEEEEP

After Derek dies in Grey’s and Meredith runs away with the kids. I think it was such a good portrayal of hiding in grief.

And when Samantha gets breast cancer in SATC. Gut wrenching.

The TV Show Heartbeat
It was when Nick's wife had died young.
That episode ended with Nick stood outside, on his doorstep with snow falling and I am pretty sure they played the 60s song Time in a Bottle, Sob Central.

The letter being read out loud in the last episode of The Patient had me in bits.

Excellent series (Disney plus).

SheWoreYellow · 21/12/2022 21:05

Years and Years - just very unexpected I think. It’s the only one I can think of that was so devastating.

Swearwolf · 21/12/2022 21:11

The episode of It's a Sin where Gloria has gone home to his family to die, and you see their Christmas card to him get delivered and be taken straight through to the back garden, where they are burning all his stuff and all photos and evidence of him. And then Gloria by Laura Brannigan starts playing, and it's absolutely fucking heartbreaking.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/12/2022 21:13

After Barbara dies in Call the Midwife, and Phylis sits on the steps outside and sobs her heart out.

NotMyDayJob · 21/12/2022 21:17

The episode of the Crown that covers Aberfan. Full on ugly crying, hysterics the works. DH asked if he should turn the TV off, and he's used to me having a blub at the telly.

Mark Greene dying in ER.

My boys and I have been working through ER on channel 4. We watched this episode last night. We all had a good cry.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 21/12/2022 21:23

There is no more heartbreaking TV moment than the final minute of Blackadder Goes Forth 😭

When Barbara takes ill with sepsis and dies in Call the Midwife - with Tom and Phyllis next to her.

Cried absolute buckets at this. Barbara was so so lovely.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/12/2022 21:25

Actually, Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield getting their awards on Sports Personality of the Year right now, and the obvious genuine love and friendship between them is my eyes leak quite significantly.
