All adults, but don’t want anything too gory or sexy as watching with elderly parents who wouldn’t enjoy that. Also needs to be entertaining for 27yr old nephew.
Examples of films we have enjoyed together:

Various James Bond
Mask of Zorro
Ocean’s 11
Titanic
It’s a Wonderful life
Miss Congeniality
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Love Actually

Any ideas please for what we can try next?? Even if it’s a well known classic that we’ve ‘probably seen’ we don’t watch much film so still worth suggesting!

Thank you!

I really enjoyed the family stone with Sarah Jessica Parker

mast0650 · 20/12/2022 13:52

I was going to suggest Knives Out too.
Or (bear with me) Eddie the Eagle. Very entertaining and much better than you would think.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a personal favourite
Paddington (I prefer Paddington 2, with Hugh Grant)
Hotel Budapest
La La Land

Oh! I read 27 year old as 2 year old.

Eddie the Eagle is great.

Knives Out is brilliant, and the new one (Glass Onion) comes out on Christmas Eve.

Someone above suggested Little Women, but you need to watch the Winona Rider version not the latest one.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is one of my favourite films - clever, funny, moving and great acting.

National lampoons Christmas vacation! A classic for all ages

Monkeybutt1 · 20/12/2022 14:06

We always watch Four Christmas's on Christmas Eve

Redannie118 · 20/12/2022 14:10

We watched the new Death on the Nile movie last Christmas and my 20 something kids loved it. Its got an incredible cast and just looks utterly gorgeous. Its free on the Disney channel if you have it.

OldTinHat · 20/12/2022 14:16

National Lampoon!

Laiste · 20/12/2022 14:17

Some Like It Hot
Tropic Thunder
Galaxy Quest
Kelly's Heros
Hannibal Brooks (about the elephant)

Bugbeau · 20/12/2022 14:19

We enjoyed “Your Christmas or Mine” on Prime recently.

Nolongera · 20/12/2022 14:20

Bad Santa.

lovescats3 · 20/12/2022 18:50

Oceans 12 and 13 are really good as well

LouisCatorze · 20/12/2022 18:55

Doctor Zhivago
The Railway Children

margithid · 20/12/2022 18:59

Die Hard. Best Christmas film ever.

Ho ho ho!

FatOaf · 20/12/2022 19:01

Although I'm not a fan of Hollywood movies, I do have a soft spot for Sandra Bullock rom-coms:

While You were Sleeping
Nine Weeks' Notice

I'd second Dr Zhivago if it's not too long for you. Or a Hitchcock classic like Rear Window, Vertigo, etc.

isittheholidaysyet · 20/12/2022 19:06

Was going to suggest knives out.

Also, Now you see me. A heist involving magicians.

ladydimitrescu · 20/12/2022 19:13

The blind side

faw2009 · 20/12/2022 19:32

Thanksgiving rather thank Christmas but still the right sentiments and funny: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

mincepiepie · 20/12/2022 19:36

Anola Holmes is nice.

Not even heard of knives out.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 20/12/2022 19:42

Esio Trot or Lion

Polpette · 20/12/2022 19:46

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is such an utterly wonderful film. I'm envious of anyone watching it for the first time.

mincepiepie · 20/12/2022 19:47

Knife out has so many recommendation a I need to watch it!

NoelNoNoel · 20/12/2022 19:49

I also suggest Eddie the Eagle. There’s also a good film called the Phantom of the Open about golf (better than it sounds).

Dream Horse about a small community that club together to buy a race horse is good.
