Duvet up under you chin but arms out. Find a scarf wide enough to cover shoulders to wrists (not much when in reading position). Lay scarf across self, chin to wrists.

I know. But it's taken me years. 😄

Like a shawl? I use one of those. Sometimes I have it over my head as well.

smooththecat · 18/12/2022 22:12

Bedjacket

CherrySocks · 18/12/2022 22:12

Winter dressing gown on back-to-front

Blocked · 18/12/2022 22:14

Oodie?

lipstickwoman · 18/12/2022 22:14

I can't be doing with things to have to take off, just when I'm getting sleepy.

Or long-sleeved pyjamas?

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 18/12/2022 22:15

I use a shawl. Have for decades!

This I would try if I had one

I put my arms through my dressing gown sleeves, back to front, so the gown lays on top of my duvet.

Vaccine001 · 18/12/2022 22:15

I don't get.it

Hoardasurass · 18/12/2022 22:16

A fleece blanket us9ed like a shawl so you can sit up

junipermarten · 18/12/2022 22:20

Ha. I have never heard anyone complain about this before and thought it was just a me thing. It's not so bad if I'm reading my Kindleas I can go completely under the covers, BUT I then struggle to breathe properly...

Bigoldmachine · 18/12/2022 22:21

Backwards dressing gown laid over top of the covers here too! It literally takes 30 seconds to pull your arms out and start snoozing, that’s never been a barrier to me getting to sleep!

Ihatethenewlook · 18/12/2022 22:21

I don’t have my bedroom at freezing temperatures to the point that having any limbs out of the duvet becomes unbearable

Winter dressing gown on back-to-front

This.

Tbf I only thought about doing it this year when the weather has been so cold and gas prices so mad.

Usually the bedroom is an ok temp to be sitting up with my arms uncovered, or at least I warm up quickly when I go to sleep. But this winter the bedroom has been arctic.

Never thought of this but it would work for me too

I got very excited when I saw the thread title as I have this problem Xmas Grin

But I read lying on my side so it's just the one hand that's out holding my Kindle. Everything else is warm but that hand is a block of ice. I'd wear a glove but wouldn't work with the Kindle...

bossybloss · 18/12/2022 22:24

Great idea!

woodhill · 18/12/2022 22:25

It's only the last couple of weeks

Bimblesalong · 18/12/2022 22:26

Make a cave by putting the duvet over your head. Poke hairdryer in (leave vent so it won’t be blocked by duvet) & blast hairdryer briefly into duvet cave to create trapped warm air. Read on kindle or phone.
don’t eat sprouts before doing this.

So dressing gown on top of duvet and one arm in one sleeve

hobbledyhoy · 18/12/2022 22:27

@Bigoldmachine this is genius, why have I never thought of this before??

Though I also like the idea of a bed jacket. I imagine something fabulously expensive and reminiscent of an aristocratic Victorian lady laying in a large sumptuous bed reading in her beautifully decorated bedroom.

saltofcelery · 18/12/2022 22:43

I do the backwards dressing gown manoeuvre!

gogohmm · 18/12/2022 22:46

Old cardigan is another option
