Antibiotic shortage

I’m a bit concerned there is a potentially serious antibiotic shortage. I know amoxicillin is in short supply around the world.
I have a prescription for a different type of penicillin- 8 pharmacies had none at all in any form. But several had no antibiotics at all- no forms of penicillin no clarithromycin, erythromycin no metronidazole etc - they couldn’t suggest what could be prescribed as an alternative.
being immunosuppressed I can get very ill very quickly. It’s all very well having to drive a 50 mile round trip when your child or parent is unwell but when you’re unwell and have nobody to do it for you - not great. I would expect this is the same for vulnerable elderly people many of whom don’t drive. None of the pharmacies would order it in either as it’s out of stock with all the suppliers.
I understand from my grandma life pre antibiotics wasn’t fun - she was sent to a nursing home with scarlet fever as a child with no treatments.
Is it just my area -South East or are others equally impacted?

@icebearforpresident I couldn’t get a full course of liquid antibiotics for my DS with tonsillitis but the pharmacist helped me get a prescription for capsules for the rest of the course so I can break them open and mix the powder with nutella or jam. It’s working well! He much prefers it to the banana flavoured ones.

I think that’s what we’ll be getting @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound , which will be fine for home but in a day or two when she’s better and we’re going down to the school every lunchtime to give her a dose is going to be a right pain. Better than nothing though.

Birmingham here DS5 very poorly with a chest infection prescribed Erythromycin as he's allergic to penicillin yesterday. I called 22 Pharmacies to try to fill the prescription finally managed to get some as gp was also refusing to change the medication due to DS5 allergies. Had to also try to get liquid paracetamol due to his temperature that also appears to be out of stock everywhere I've had several family members going to different chemists and shops we have finally got a small bottle. WTH 🤯
