My favourite female singer is Sheila Ferguson. Her time with The Three Degrees was fantastic.

Tina Turner!!! The strongest woman! And underrated because people only associate her with Simply the Best.

Another vote for Melissa Etheridge. And Beth Hart, she’s very bluesy. Love all these others too! Christine McVey was a sad loss.

As much as I like some of the Pretenders stuff, I do struggle with Chrissie Hynde and her victim-blaming comments on rape. She’s not a good role model so I would question including her inclusion in a “strong female singers” list. Annoying as the music is good.
