Having just been to Aldi with my dad Grin
He was "oh you've spent a lot"
Me "not really, £57"
Him Confused "we aren't at the till yet! Your Nan used to do that"

I don't do it to the penny, and I'm not so skint I can't find another fiver but I need to know approximately so I don't spend masses

So do you calculate or just get to the till and it's a surprise?

I try, but my mental arithmetic is terrible. DH is really good at it though.

No, I find out at the till, and then am normally cats bum face about it.🙂

Yep and my husband is like 'WE ONLY CAME IN FOR MILK AND A TOILET ROLL, WHY IS IT £100?!'

But this is why I don't generally do my shopping in store as I get waylaid in the clothing and household wares section.

I keep a vague tally as we are going around, but then DH ruins it but sneakily adding things from the middle of Lidl!

I used to when I was on a tight budget.

Big shop - I use these scanner at Waitrose, Tesco or Sainsbury. If I am at Lidl I have a vague idea of the total.

top-up - normally not.

I don’t keep a tally but I know roughly how much it will cost as we get pretty much the same stuff week in, week out.
