What lovely thing has brightened your day?

I’ve just been scrolling through Facebook and saw my husband has commented on a post to enter a raffle. His “lucky numbers” are mine and the kids birthdays 🥰

Just a little warning if the heart after what has been quite a shitty day.

That’s super cute bless him.

my DD has been frightening ill and had chronic pain since summer. It’s been such a hard time for us she has really gone through what no child should, physically and mentally. The past two weeks she’s been progressing loads and starting to get better, eating more and looks healthier. Yesterday she was off school with a cold and a temp, but she woke up today still snotty after lots of rest and was excited to go to school…

She had her tea when she got home, and I heard banging in the living room. She had scoffed her food and was dancing and jumping around the room, snot and arms flying around everywhere - usually in this case I would tell her to stop jumping around after just eating but I could not help but bless the universe for her health and her energy she looked so happy and childlike again. A moment to hold on to for sure!

great thread op.

Aww, that's lovely. I'm so glad your DD is feeling better.

This happy thread has brightened my day.

My 17 year old who hated school and had a rough lockdown told me he didn’t want to miss college during the train strikes and would I be able to give him a lift. Honestly a year ago train strikes would have been his best day ever. He has changed so much in the last year or so and is such a happy lad now.

Bitter sweet moment. DS, 17 has started a volunteer job at a medical centre and seems strangely grown up and childish all at once, so proud of him though

4 yo from the Ukrainian family who lives with us going around in a bear onesie with sunglasses. Both cuddly and unspeakably cool at the same time.

NedSchneebly · 07/12/2022 19:53

I’m 10 years cancer free! 😁

Not daft at all. Sometimes my walk to shops has been reluctantly done then made better by cheery acknowledgement from another human.

One thing I learned as a result of the Covid lockdowns is the value of these tiny face to face interactions, when you pass the time of day with a stranger. We are a social breed of ape and we need these things.

Didn't have my glasses on and was just about to go in the loo when I heard a man behind me say " to the left" ! Saved my blushes of going to the wrong one ! Also had lots of thank yous from drivers today ! Love it

2yo DD asked to feed her newborn DSIS, was slightly apprehensive about letting her, but I sat next to her and the look of pride and excitement on her face while she giggled and said 'Mama! I give sissy milk mama!' Was priceless 🥰 such a good big sister!

TreacsPotNoodle · 07/12/2022 19:55

Ds 2.5 went on a Christmas pony ride and smiled so hard the entire time. I felt like my heart could burst with love watching him❤️

IneedcoffeeinanIV · 07/12/2022 19:57

My DP hasn't had to best of luck with jobs the past couple of years. Had to quit his trade due to injury so everything since has been trial and error. He started a new job recently and passed his initial training today. Doesn't sound like much but we've both been silently anxious and worried about it for weeks so it was the best news

maddy68 · 07/12/2022 20:00

I found out my son (adult,) has paid my 80 yr old mums electric bill so she doesn't have to worry.

He told her he had a bonus that had to be silent on a utility bill. (bollocks ).

I really wanted a back massage - shoulders and more in agony , could only afford to book 30 mins

Had my massage - which was lovely - thought to myself god this is lasting a long time , don't want it to end ...

When I finally sat up I saw I'd had 50 minutes - the lady said I needed it - no more charge

I was so happy 😀 as was she with her flowers I got her after 💐

holierthanthou73 · 07/12/2022 20:05

What a wonderful human being you have made.

I found out that my college is doing a toy swap to help other parents, there are a lot of "mature" students so there's a huge support network there.
I got some really good quality toys for my 2 year old for Christmas :)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/12/2022 20:10

Nipped into town to pick up a book I'd ordered for DS. It was just getting dark, and I went for a really nice walk as the sun was setting over the Pennines.

Lulu1919 · 07/12/2022 20:13

I watched a school nativity rehearsal this morning ...two year olds dressed as clouds and adorable little sheep !!
Made me smile

Passmeaplacard · 07/12/2022 20:13

I spoke to a celebrity completely unexpectedly and she was lovely. Sports star type celebrity, just really cheered up my day

Siriusmuggle · 07/12/2022 20:18

First one was a couple of days ago- the piercer I go to (very cool people, very lovely) complimented me on the top I was wearing.

Today Gary Davis played wombling merry Christmas and I know him so well this morning.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 07/12/2022 20:28

The view as I drove to work early this morning - the sun was coming up over the sea & it was absolutely stunning.

Omgmykidsneversleep · 07/12/2022 20:29

@Igotthegoose that must have been so lovely to see her so happy in the moment.

@Gufo well-done you! I had something similar happen. I thought i would never get there and over the past two days I've had success in getting two offers to train to do something I've always wanted to do.

Lovely thread @Boooooot enjoying reading this.

mamaduckbone · 07/12/2022 20:30

My 13yo ds shared his chocolate mug cake with me and is now snuggled up under a blanket with me watching Wednesday on Netflix.

weegiemum · 07/12/2022 20:31

My dd2 was at college today, she's in the final year of her HND in Beauty Therapies and has a lot of hand ins between now and Christmas.

I've not been very well recently, I have a neurological illness and have had Long Covid though that's improving.

Instead of going to her boyfriend's house as she usually does on a Wednesday night (she works in a spa on a Thursday and it's really close to his house) she came home instead, made dinner for dh and I so I didn't have to (my fingers and wrists aren't working too well right now) and hung out with me until boyfriend finished work. It was just so thoughtful and lovely and unnecessary (I'd have managed on my own).

I hear other people moaning about their young adult kids. She's 19, and a real delight!
