Just finished an indulgent bowl tonight with choc chips, sweetened dried cranberries, almond butter, cinnamon and clementine segments and was thinking what an amazing food it is.

Lunchtime sometime this week, I will likely have garlic and herb Lubneh with crackers/pitta breads/ bagels.

I add it to homemade guacamole for protein (we are veggie household)

Makes lovely pasta salad dressing when mixed with mayo or hot when mixed with Marmite, mushrooms and onions and herbs.

Plain with a sprinkle of oats and hot stewed apples and honey in winter.

Berries in summer.

Great budget versions.

How does everyone else eat theirs?

Agree that low fat is a sin against humanity, plus it is NOT good for you, get the full fat, it fills you up for ages.

LizzieSiddal · 07/12/2022 08:15

I would agree… except for Tim’s.

Again, it seems to be the only one which isn’t runny, it’s so thick and delicious.

NeedToKnow101 · 07/12/2022 08:51

I love Greek yogurt. Isn't the fat in it good for you? It's protein. Anyway I was brought up with it on the side of pasta and roast potatoes etc. Love it with honey etc too.

Empty the pot into a bowl, fill the pot with flour and empty into the same bowl, bit of salt and roll into balls and flatten. cook the dough in the cast iron pan - flatbreads! My fave snack with dips/soup

Does this work for the 500g tubs or the single portion size? Sounds great!

LimitIsUp · 07/12/2022 09:33

It's my standard breakfast - Greek yoghurt, pomegranate seeds and granola

SavouryFlavour · 07/12/2022 09:36

I get through loads of the big Lidl blue & white tubs (dog also loves it) but I haven't seen any full-fat in store for a while now, only the low-fat and 0% options (bleurgh). Is it just my local (west Mids) or is there a national supply problem?

This is what I have most mornings too.

whiteonesugar · 07/12/2022 10:04

Full fat (obv) the supermarket authentic are pretty good, if not, Fage 5% - topped with frozen sweet cherries, agave and a healthy sprinkle of cinammon. YUM

Also lemon curd as pp have said.

I also mix in garlic granules, black pepper and mixed herbs for a dip.

Or just eat plain.

I do this and use as a pizza base.

Goodgrief82 · 07/12/2022 10:30

I have been known to eat an entire 400ml Total Fage Greek yoghurt with fresh raspberries and muesli.

I don’t eat crisps, chocolate, biscuits, pizza… absolutely nothing like that

but my goodness… Greek yoghurt plus muesli plus fresh fruit…. I could eat and eat and eat

Goodgrief82 · 07/12/2022 10:33

actually it’s 450g that I have Been known to eat in one sitting!

Goodgrief82 · 07/12/2022 10:35

The Fage Total 0%, whilst not as nice as the 5%, is still utterly heavenly

Yes any size! It's just the proportions - equal yoghurt to flour. Also roll the dough onto olive oil rather than flour so it browns nicely in the pan

Batcountry8 · 07/12/2022 10:48

Fage 5%

Blueberries, half a chopped banana. Topped with a handful of granola if I can afford the calories.

Mix that stodge and devour!

Goodgrief82 · 07/12/2022 11:21

Also makes a great snack for my constantly hungry teen DS

He comes home from rugby practise on a Monday night (after cross country training immediately preceding that!) and he is ravenous. I have a huge bowl of Greek yoghurt with weetabix and honey waiting for him, which he eats as he’s getting out of kit, then a quick shower, dressed and arrives in the kitchen ready for a gargantuan bowl of pasta and chicken in a great deal more of an improved mood if he hadn’t already had the yoghurt bowl!

Rainbowshit · 07/12/2022 11:34

I strain it to make labneh and serve with a pomegranate pistachio and olive relish with flatbreads. 🤤

Westfacing · 07/12/2022 11:46

With defrosted frozen fruit for breakfast

As a savoury dish with a sprinkle of dried mint, small chopped garlic & diced cucumber; or strained to make labneh with a swirl of olive oil on top and big sprinkling of zaatar

Always full fat

longtompot · 07/12/2022 11:54

Over sliced banana with a sprinkling of dark brown sugar on top. It melts into a caramel sauce and is delicious

stuntbubbles · 07/12/2022 12:05

Plain, 5% proper Greek stuff just on on its own

Eaten from the tub with the fridge door open

On top of warm spiced apple cake or crumbles – in fact, anywhere you’d use custard or cream but fancy a bit of an edge to it

Splodged on top of shakshuka

Massive bowl of tzatziki with things to dip, ideally solo so no one else bothers me

On an itchy fanny

JustMaggie · 07/12/2022 12:11

My Lebanese grandma used to make me a bowl of plain boiled rice, mixed with Greek yogurt, one crushed clove of garlic, salt, dried mint topped with a drizzle of olive oil. Yummy.

sprinkleparty · 07/12/2022 12:17

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Yeo Valley yet, it’s the crème de la crème of yoghurts. We get giant fridge-door-friendly tubs and it goes with so many savoury mains - curries, soups, stews.

Not thick enough. Not by far. You’ve not lived if you this this is the best!

sprinkleparty · 07/12/2022 13:02

@Goodgrief82 Clearly! 😂

Primroseprimula · 07/12/2022 13:19

I have it for breakfast with some ground flaxseed, flaked almonds and apple. I'm always amazed how long it keeps me going.

Im also obsessed with yoghurt in savoury contexts, which DP doesn't get at all. My mum makes am indian side dish that is yoghurt and spinach and it is incredible
