Its the emphasis on the ‘k’ that annoys me so much with the first two.

@StarDolphins

Is that because the phrase is 'off the beaten track' - beaten track meaning a well trodden path.

Vulva

This is what I came onto say, even though its very un-Mumsnetty to say. Its not that it's a word to describe female genital area....it just sets my teeth on edge.

Judge me all you like, I describe it as my fanny or my privates.

Yes☹️ Corrected him so many times! Even had him Google it to prove its ‘beaten’.

Then he asked my friend that worked for Astra Zenica what car he was provided with. Because ‘it’s a dealership’.

@StarDolphins

I have friends who accidentally mix metaphors. It sets me on edge.

Also have a friend who recently found out that the word 'available' wasn't spelled 'avaidable'. She's been saying and spelling avaidable for more than 50 years. What a revelation.

My most embarrassing moment with DH was when he asked a doctor about my 'woomd' before I had a hysterectomy. The doctor looked confused - he didn't know whether he'd said womb or wound. H has always pronounced womb with a 'd' sound on the end. I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me.

Don't get me started on the prostate/prostrate pronunciation - he gets that mixed up as well.
