PIP - has anyone had this text after assessment?

My phone assessment was 18 November. Got a text 2 days later from DWP to say they’d recevied it and they’ll write back when they’d made a decision - probably within 8 weeks.

this morning I got a text saying they had not yet made a decision on my claim and would write when they have.

Does anyone know if this is usual. Is it a good/bad sign or is it just that they’re probably working through a backlog? TIA

Yes, it’s fairly standard.

Suboptimalsitch · 05/12/2022 11:18

Thanks. I just wondered if it was ‘code’ for anything good/bad.

Quite normal, have you called to ask for a copy of the report?

Also, the backlog is massive Sad

Suboptimalsitch · 05/12/2022 11:34

No I didn’t know you could ask for a copy of the report lookersnoopy. Sounds like it’s going to be a long wait for a decision.

Yes you can call them (probably not today be due there is a huge demand due to missing payment) ask for a copy of the report. They should send it out just keep in mind that the decision makers doesn't always go with the assessor, so your award may not reflect the report but it is good to get as an idea anyway. Also if there is anything in there you don't agree with start getting notes down in case you need to do a mandatory reconsideration

Suboptimalsitch · 05/12/2022 13:22

Thanks for the advice. I'm not expecting to be awarded anything as assessor would barely lete answer before rushing on to the next question.

If the report reflects this you can ask for MR and state you were not given enough time to process and respond to questions. Don't give up!

Suboptimalsitch · 05/12/2022 14:17

Thanks lookersnoopy I will do that. I felt so rushed . Don't know how she could make a fair decision the rate she was speeding through it

It is possible she was just dotting the 'I's - if you have sufficient evidence the assessment doesn't need to be so long as they have most of the information they need. Did you note the length of call just in case?

Suboptimalsitch · 05/12/2022 23:22

I think the call was just over an hour. Probably an hour and a quarter of question after question but giving me barely time to give anything except the shortest of answers before she was on to the next one. It was exhausting.

I got a text this morning saying I’ve been awarded PIP and I should get a letter in about 2 weeks. I’m shocked. The assessor seemed so brusque and in a rush.

That is fantastic news!! So pleased for you.

Suboptimalsitch · 07/12/2022 15:36

Thanks so much lookersnoopy. Don’t know how much I’ll be awarded but anything will be a big help with heating, taxis and getting someone to help clean the flat.

Yes my partner got this in September, he got his decision very quickly after and was awarded his PIP.

julie81 · 07/12/2022 15:51

Sorry just seen you got it. That is great news and removes some stress for you. My partners phone call was about two half hours. We had to leave it in middle as he had a hospital appointment and they had to get permission to ring him back. He was crying towards the end of it as he was so poorly.

Suboptimalsitch · 07/12/2022 21:21

Julie81. Really glad your partner was awarded it. But a 2.5 hr appointment is ridiculous. I was exhausted after just over an hour. The poor thing. I know they have to make sure that whoever applies has a valid claim but surely it doesn’t need 2.5 hours of gruelling questioning .

I too recieved this text this morning , and I too was wondering , from the forums I've read, everyone who got this specific message seemed to be awarded within a fortnight or so. I am assuming it's therefore an automatic text when it's reached the sign off stage and is awaiting managers authorisation, Backdating and future payment dates will have to be set up.
At least, this is what I am hoping , having been rejected during lockdown , & not knowing about being able to challenging the negative decision.
🤞

amyjay81 · 17/01/2023 02:33

Hey veteran, was wondering if you'd heard anything yet? I received the same text the day after you and I've not heard anything yet x

Trez1510 · 17/01/2023 02:51

@amyjay81 it's worth keeping an eye on your bank account.

If awarded, any backdated benefits usually arrive in your account before the letter arrives in the post.

Hi, I applied for a PIP review/change of circumstances in Nov. This was due to a new diagnosis and medication, changes in how I now manage/cope.
I had a 3 hour assessment on 02/02/2022. I don’t recall my first being this long, it was exhausting and triggering.
move yet to hear anything yet, but was wondering did anyone have a C.O.C review and how did it go?
The waiting game is horrendous.

Thanks in advance.

MACCA11 · 04/03/2023 13:58

Hi guys,

I had a video assessment as part of a PIP review on Tuesday, I received a text on the Friday from the DWP to say that they've received the written report and will contact me in 6 weeks with a decision. Has anyone received their award before the 6-8 week guideline that the DWP give you?
