Little white lie to impress or a red flag - early in dating...

So I've been seeing a guy for a few weeks, it's going really well and haven't been able to fault him at all. Both really into each other and it's been lovely.

A few days ago he sent me a photo of a motorbike and said he might be getting it at the weekend. I said 'are you buying it?' He replied 'don't know, maybe'

We've just added each other on Facebook and the first piste was him tagged in a raffle / competition for this motorbike!! I went back to check his messages and the above is exactly what he put. I was hoping I'd read it wrong but he defo made out he might be buying it.

I messaged him making a joke of it saying I'd seen it's a raffle and he said 'yeah but I'm gonna win haha' 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now I'm wondering if this is a little white lie to try and impress me knowing my ds loves motorbikes or is it a red flag that he's just a lying or Billy bullshitter?! Should I say anything else??! Am I over reacting?

Maybe he is thinking of buying the same model if he doesn’t win?

No it's a used racing bike

Well, it's not impressive that he's obfuscating but maybe you should give it a bit longer to see if he develops form for this.

I think you're over reacting

If he'd said "yes I'm gonna buy it" then I'd be more 🤔but he was very non committal in just response.

I thjnk you're overthinking myself

I'd be very dubious. He's either a shameless bullshitter or a fantasist who didn't even have the decency to be a little embarrassed when you picked him up on it. Seems like he has a tenuous relationship with the truth and he's fine with that. I'd throw him back.

Urgh doesn't take much to kill a vibe does it. I know it's only a small thing but it's made me feel abit urgh about it. I know I'll doubt things he says from now on but that's probably just me and having a history of being lied to doesn't help 🙈

That's exactly how I feel! Otherwise you're going to have this shit every week when he puts money on the lottery.
