This can’t be real. I’m pretty sure all those who complained are just taking the piss?!
Please tell me they are taking the piss! Or everyone is just offended by everything these days?

How rude and offensive of these whingey fuckers complaining in the paper. Hmm I say MOM! Rude to attack regional dialects.

RustyBear · 30/11/2022 16:51

I’m more outraged by the fact that they appear to have added 2” to their “short” jeans without any warning!

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/11/2022 16:53

No it’s journalistic click bait and you fell for it. You don’t even need to read the article to know that.

Right the first time, people are offended by everything. I'm just offended by the spelling of MOM...we aren't American

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/11/2022 15:24

I don’t care what they’re called as long as they fit and I’m not expected to pay £39.50 for them.

What's wrong with the price? Is it too dear or too cheap? It's actually a good price if the quality is there

pechecreme · 30/11/2022 17:08

@wickedstepmothfker No we aren't American but plenty of people in various regions within the UK say Mom and Naha e done for a long time. As explained on this thread already, not to mention EVERY thread where the same 'we are not American' rubbish is trotted out!

Peoplepissmeoff · 30/11/2022 17:11

Hate hate hate the term 'Mom' but I don't think I could be arsed making an official complaint.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 30/11/2022 17:15

Slightly off-topic but why are they known as mum/mom jeans? What is it that's motherly about them?

You're right, not everyone in the whole world is American. They should be called Mammy jeans, because that's what I say 🤪

"Mom" is commonly used in the midlands.

That’s just the accent though. It’s why people think my dog (Humphrey) is called Pomfrey. It’s still ‘mum’ though.

I was about to say that. My Gran was from Birmingham, called her mother Mom, as did my own Mom, and now so do my sister and myself.
Jesus, they try to blame Americans for everything. I happen to be one but was using Mom before we ever moved there.

MichelleScarn · 30/11/2022 17:23

Can't believe no trigger warning on thread. . Literally as pp shaking and crying and screaming at the article.

hairypaws · 30/11/2022 17:30

That article reads as though it's straight out of The Daily Mash Grin

No, it's often spelled that way too.

I guess the extra space in the hip area and the fact that many women's hips widen after childbirth.

I believe it stems from this Saturday Night Live sketch, made about a decade ago. I find it highly amusing that something deemed so tragic soon became very fashionable...

Or because they were popular amongst mums according to this article.

Mum does not come out mom in a west Mids accent. Confused

Do people from the Black Country also say bomb instead of bum then?Grin

Thank you, and also @Coronilla . By that logic, I think we need 'menopause' jeans with extra tummy room!

spiderlight · 30/11/2022 15:50

I'm Welsh. I insist that they rename them Mam jeans immediately.

Dwi'n cytuno!
But seriously, silly moaners, they were naned Mom jeans by Americans where they have Moms. M&S didn't invent them!

😄

I wish I that level of spare capacity

pechecreme · 30/11/2022 19:03

@PuppyMonkey no they say bUUUm (emphasis on the UUUm) rather that the southern Bum where the u is similar am or softer sounding.

Mum & Mom are two different words. Mum is very really written too.

wesayno · 30/11/2022 19:27

Mom is a travesty. Good on the complainers.

NuNameNuMe · 30/11/2022 21:45

Just wanted to say, I have a pair. They're REALLY comfortable.
