DH has got Con Air on. This is one of these films that's always on TV...technically I must have watched it about 20 times but I still couldn't tell you what it's about other than a load of aggressive blokes on a plane Confused

What films have you seen loads of times yet could not tell anyone the plot of?

Donny Darko, I have watched it a few times and can only tell you there is a giant rabbit in it 😂😂

Yes! Mind you I've only ever seen the directors cut. Watched it twice and no desire to try and figure it out again

The Matrix

MrsMop1964 · 30/11/2022 00:16

The Big Short; stars big names, Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale. Ought to be great but the ins and outs of the american housing markets ,sub prime mortages etc, leaves me baffled.

I'm still trying to figure out The Matrix Confused

Suemademedoit · 30/11/2022 00:20

Every single sci fi movie, ever.

Also I’m terrible for getting people confused. And names. So if a movie has, say, Amy Adams and Isla Fisher in it, I’m fucked. I’m that person asking “didn’t she just leave the room wearing green? Wtf?”

DuesToTheDirt · 30/11/2022 00:21

personally I find I understand plots a lot better if they have subtitles ( on tv)

Absolutely. I've had to give up on a few films on Amazon Prime because they didn't have subtitles and I could only catch about 50% of the dialogue - nothing wrong with my hearing either. 21 grams, I didn't make it through 21 minutes. I watched The Witcher with DH and struggled to follow parts (he's read the book and explained some of it). I suggested subtitles for the second series, and what a revelation, I realised just how much I'd missed of the first series.

Moominprincess · 30/11/2022 00:22

Lost in Translation is such a wonderful film. Different lost souls finding an unexpected connection.
I couldn't follow the plot/characters in the Avengers films though. Might have been the wine didn't help.

middleager · 30/11/2022 00:30

Vanilla Sky
Mullholland Drive
Lost in Translation
Magnolia

APJ1 · 30/11/2022 00:35

I've watchedThe Matrix so many times over the last 20+ years but still can't fully understand it! Only recently did I finally watch the second and third films and they just confused me further.

DoctorManhattan · 30/11/2022 00:36

What is it that you don’t understand, the general plot? Or specific bits

BertaHoon · 30/11/2022 00:40

undercoverhero74 · 29/11/2022 23:58

Donny Darko, I have watched it a few times and can only tell you there is a giant rabbit in it 😂😂

Haha same here! Although I love the film - I haven't a clue what's happening!

I finally figured out Twelve Monkeys on the umpteenth watch 🤣

MintJulia · 30/11/2022 00:44

Hitch Hiker's Guide.

Mind bogglingly dull with no plot whatsoever. It sent me to sleep and my then boyfriend said I'd done it on purpose, and sulked. 😃

StarCourt · 30/11/2022 00:44

Twelve Monkeys was an absolute mystery to me.

ForgetBarbie · 30/11/2022 00:46

What the FUCK is Shutter Island about?!

Inception is a great film!

ForgetBarbie · 30/11/2022 00:47

The Matrix is also sooo good

It's one of my favorite films ever!
But I did read the book it's based on and that is quite detailed on financial concepts but I got it generally. But I also loved "Margin Call", "The Smartest Guys in the Room" (about the Enron scandal), "Too Big to Fail", etc...

CallieQ · 30/11/2022 01:08

Inception

Lost in Translation is a great film

The Matrix

How can you not understand the matrix!? My fave film ever! I could understand if you had said matrix 3 as it gets a bit more confusing but the first one??

CherryRipe1 · 30/11/2022 01:17

Citizen Kane, dreary nonsense.
Cloverfield, wtf is that all about?
Eraserhead. Bonkers.
Seven pounds. Urmmm.

AcrossthePond55 · 30/11/2022 01:17

Memento. Make my head swim and although I know what happened (sort of) I have no idea of how why or where it happened. It was really a 'choppy' film jumping from one viewpoint to another.

Swiss Army Man. What the fuck?

crownandfillers · 30/11/2022 01:26

Inception for me. I've tried watching it 4 times and can't get past 30 mins. Interstellar I get it but if I was describe the ending to someone, I wouldn't be able to.

DuncanBiscuits · 30/11/2022 01:26

The Big Lebowski.

Something about bowling. And a rug. Fuck knows.

holierthanthou73 · 30/11/2022 01:29

Cloud Atlas

Time40 · 30/11/2022 01:50

Lost in Translation is such a wonderful film. Different lost souls finding an unexpected connection

It's a fabulous film; a masterpiece. It's sad that so many people seem not have liked it.

The one I didn't understand was The Usual Suspects.

SunshineAndFizz · 30/11/2022 02:00

Encanto.
