Is M&S food getting crapper?

I don't shop regularly at m and s but there are certain things I really do like, such as posh dogs, and we do do a full shop every couple of months when feeling rich.
We've noticed a few bits that just seem to not be as good as they were and are quite poor, despite the fancily-worded ticket. This evening we've bought fancy camembert for £7.50 as a treat. Price ticket blurb went on about "complex flavours" etc... Bloody hell its awful. Like melted rubber. Basic greasy flavour, no French cheese flavour whatsoever. Quite a few products seem worse at the mo - has anyone experienced the same?

I disagree based on the few things I buy - the quality and flavour of the fruit and small tomatoes is much better than Waitrose IME, and they've started selling a range of ready foods in grey and black packaging that is excellent and, crucially, not too salty.

Yes the things in this range are (very) expensive but I'd rather have one of their seriously delicious steak pies than two less nice ones, and it's cheaper and nicer than say going out to Côte, say.

But I don't generally shop at Marks, just for a few things including the things noted above.

Had their Easter beef joint yesterday … it was gorgeous. So tender.

Their bread and rolls are awful.

I bought a pack of four morning rolls a couple of weeks back as they were only a quid.

They were nowhere near as good as Lidl's morning rolls, they were horrible.

M&S is next door to Lidl and I kicked myself for not getting them there as I normally would have done.

Won't by M&S rolls again.

Yes, I agree sadly. If I want special food, I go to Waitrose, although having said that, their fruit and veg is always fresh and far better than Tesco and Sainsburys.

I bought a packet of 4 pancakes and there was only 3 so I’d agree! 😁. I moaned on twitter and they sent me an e voucher for something like 52p……ie the price of one pancake. But that’s not entirely to buy another pack of pancakes with is it when you have four people all wanting a pancake! So ended up spending more than I meant to!

Yes..,they did a lower calorie meatball and spaghetti ready meal which was really tasty and for some reason messed about with it and it's now just a tasteless load of yack. !

Normally buy mince from Tesco or Sainsburys.
Had M and S mince last week expecting it to be really nice -
I was picking bits out - won't be buying from there again.

I shop with Ocado, I was excited when they started selling M and S products. As time as gone on, I am not so thrilled, some products are lower quality than I would expect. You have to read the reviews before buying because the quality is a bit and miss.

i was the complete opposite.
when I heard that Waitrose was no longer with Ocado and replaced with M&S, I was upset because I have never liked the M&S food (except for fruit and pre-made salads).

as a vegan, I think that the M&S vegan food is awful.
other supermarkets do it better.
Their recent xmas 2024 vegan range was the last straw. it was so bad we all threw it in the bin!!
never again!
their vegan sandwiches are all bad too! never enough sauce, and a very bad vegan meat-alternative.
Most other supermarkets manage fine.

Don't know, it's definitely getting dearer though.
